Well, looks like some of is were going too fast. New base weight is going to be 2885 I'm told, up from the 2775 it was :/

Yeah, with me in the car I'm sitting at 2892lbs. and I'm going to be dropping another 50lbs. or so via lightweight flywheel, CF driveshaft, and lightweight battery. Not to mention the 225 Hoosiers will drop 16 lbs. compared to my current street tires. So I'm probably going to end up having to add 75-100lbs of ballast to stay TTD legal.
Oh well, at least I'll get to put it low and in the rear, which will help balance out the weight distribution of the car. |

I was reading the thread on NASA forums too. Someone made a comment about dyno reclassing and maybe @aCab could clear it up for me. So if you do an engine swap say into a Miata and without any mods to the engine you are at the power to weight limit for a class up (car was TTE now it is classed TTD). You have 19 points to spend on what ever you want and do not have to do any engine mods. Is that how it works? This seems a bit biased (or the best way to do it).

I was not pleaded Thursday when I got the news about the 110 Lb. weight increase. I had yet to weight the car and I have full exhaust, coils, sway bar, intake, 255 RS3's, and the truck gutted. I had 3 points left and used them for weight reduction to reduce my competition weight to 2850. I weighted the car with a full tank as it was... 2848
![]() I figured I would burn about 10-15 pounds of fuel a session so in the spare tire went. After the next session I weight 2862 Perfect!! Just so happened I beat the track record by 0.8xx that session too. ![]() I think its silly that a stock car on full tank down to the floor mats in the car and owners book is 2750 and they add 130 pounds to the comp weight pretty much requiring ballast to pull tools, mats, etc out of the car. With me in the car I would only be 30 pounds above min weight in a full show room stock car! Its a new car, technology improves and vehicles get faster. I feel like hindering the performance improvement of a new chassis by adding weight is silly. Quote:
If you were to do the swap in the miata that made the power to weight in the TTD area you would have 39 points to spend, 19 from your TTE class plus what you can use for TTD. As long as you maintained your TTD 14.25 power to weight. If you are in your base class you have to maintain base weight and the power that corresponds to it as well as your 19 points. Unless you use some of your points for weight reduction below you base weight but keep in mind you still have to maintain your power to weight.

That seems crazy! If you throw a supercharger on this car and go into the TTC pw ratio. You can have 250 hp and still have a lot of points to spend. That seems like the way to do it. I am planning my build for next year with a * next to it. If you are beating current track records on street tires, then you are really fast, the previous record holder was not, or the car is actually to fast for TTD with no *. Wait did I say that last one? ![]() Surely that is not the case. |

There was another BRZ in TTD. Stock car with upgraded pads, and 225 A6's. I think he got down to a 1:51.831 to my 1:48.504. He was 2.6 sec off the old record.
