Quick question on Dr. Color Chip on an Opti-Coated car...

Hey guys had something happen tonight that really is killing me. I was installing my new springs and my wrench slipped at the top of the shock and ended up putting a little gouge in the top of my fender. There is no dent but the scratch is definitely through the paint. My question is, the car has already been Opti-coated. Can i just us the Dr. Color Chip as is since I can see down to primer/metal? I would imagine when I wipe the "paint" off with the solution it will come off as normal but leave the paint in the scratch? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If anyone has used Dr. ColorChip please input. I have a few rock chips that need to be addressed.
