FINALLY, a steering wheel remote kit we can use that isn't DIY

Now this looks cool! Has anyone looked into this to see how well it works?

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ASWCSTALK.html

I had an Axxess swr adapter in my STI that let me use my SWC with my Appradio 2 and it worked really well, so my impression with Axxess in general is very positive.

Agreed. Slightly annoyed at that. I think it'd look alot like another stalk in addition to your cruise control stalk. I'd probably mount it above and behind the cruise control stalk, since that is on the wheel itself, and I get the feeling that this one goes on the column, not the wheel to avoid having to pass through the clock spring.

I am surprised other threads didn't mention Axxess but I think they only work with aftermarket HU, not sure your how this would work with OEM HU's.

They also make one that attaches to the steering wheel rim as well, but it looks like it'd be annoying to have something wrapping around it. Their support site also says that they don't know if it works with our car....

A mini jack needs to be hooked up to the OEM radio,we know that you can hookup steering wheel controls from other Subaru's, maybe the guy can help us out here if the Axxess can be used instead of the "Home-Brew" buttons?

You need to verify that it will work with a three wire resistor based system. The description calls for an aftermarket H/U, most of which use a different system, which is not the same as the factory system.

Yeah, it looks like it will interface fine. It fits quite a few toyotas, so even if it hasn't been tested with the twins, it should still work: http://axxessinterfaces.com/index.ph...roducts_id=113

It looks like the same five functions as the other Scions. Vol +/-, Seek Up/Down, Source.
The rf unit that attaches with a strap looks to have phone buttons, although the phone controls work pretty well, so that might not be necessary anyway.

Harness is wrong. The twins use a 28 pin connector. Other Toyotas and older Scions have a 20 pin connector. You'd need to find a car that uses the same 28 pin connector and either get lucky and have the pattern be the same or be prepared to re-pin it. Or ignore the adapter harness altogether and do some splicing. Actually, it wouldn't really be splicing, because there are no wires to cut. You'd have to find some female wire ends and put them in the 28 pin connector.

If anyone is serious about trying this and wants some help, let me know. I've spent a lot of time working on this subject. I'm waiting for parts to come in to install my own in the center console.

I don't mind purchasing said adapter, installing it, ext.
However I do not have the skills nor a way to test or figure out the 28 pin connecter by the radio.
If you would like to try, I can buy one and ship it to you
If it works, good, if not, 100$ loss...
Let me know if you would like to try this out...

I'm going to get an aftermarket HU anyway, so the universal kit will work just fine without issue.
