Camber and spacers saved my rear quarter panel!!!!

So, my car is lowered on Eibach pros and I have 20mm spacers in the back. Love it because my wheels are no longer tucked.

This setup literally saved my rear quarter panel from close to a $1000 in damage!

I needed new work shoes today. As always, I park in BFE to avoid door dings. I was sitting in my car, checking the latest posts on the SoCal SD 86 Club Facebook page. After a couple minutes, I started gather my things and out of the corner of my eye I see something coming at me quickly. I look over and see a Vons shopping cart hauling ass toward my car, speeding up with help of a strong tailwind!!

I get my red bull into the cup holder as fast as I possibly can and whip the door open to try and intercept my attacker!!!! Just as I got it open I hear a LOUD CRACK as the shopping cart hits the car!!!!

All I could think was SHIT!!! That quarter panel is done!! I pulled the cart away from my car already thinking about grabbing my phone to make the call to my insurance company or body shop.

Nothing…..I go at every angle I could looking for damage on the quarter panel and nothing….. then I see it. The wheel. My beautiful ugly stock wheel had taken the entire hit of the cart! The spoke in the picture below was literally at the 6 o'clock position, so the furthest away from the car.

Lol, my heart still starts pounding when I think about the cart racing my way. At the same time, I feel incredibly lucky that it was only a chip on a cheap wheel than a crease on the quarter panel.

Anyway, just thought I'd share about my start to the new year.

Lol, so when I called the wife after the cart nailed the wheel, she said, "Oh man! I'm so sorry, honey. Will it buff out?" She hadn't even seen the damn chip, and no it wouldn't buff out! Besides, she knows nothing about buffing or cars for that matter.

Well, as Bill Cosby once said, "There comes a time when no one is looking that you will give the ridiculous a try" Obviously not so ridiculous when you think about it.

Well….for the most part, it worked! Wheel is all one color again. With a flash at the right angle you can see the tiny piece of chipped clear, but the color is still there. HUGE improvement from my OP pic.

My luck continues to improve even more….still no winning lottery ticket, though!
