My two Blue Subaru's - 05 STi and 13 BRZ
I've been wanting to start a journal on here for quite some time but I have been too busy, but now is the time!
A bit of a background on me. I am a Subaru whore and a car nut in general, that is about all you need to know LOL. First my 2013 WRB BRZ which is my first brand new car and I adore it. It is my summer only car, where the STi is my winter beater. The day I got it. The STi and BRZ are already friends ![]() First oil change at 1100 ish miles: ![]() ![]() I can't remember the exact order of the mods, but I think I did the TRD steering wheel and frameless mirror next. ![]() STi rear gurney flap and clear corners: ![]() Whiteline rear subframe inserts, Kartboy Trans bushing insert: ![]() Winmax W1 brake pads: ![]() Tom's Tails: ![]() and just some random cool photos: ![]() Horrible first post I know, I'm hoping to keep this updated with future mods and make it a bit more organized. Mods so far: TRD Steering wheel Toyota frame less mirror STi clear corners STi gurney flap Whiteline camber bolts Whiteline rear subframe inserts Kartboy trans bush insert Winmax W1 brake pads Dimple drain plugs Apexi drop in air filter TRD sound changer Tomei 60S catback As of this post the car has just under 4700 miles and is in storage for winter. I literally can't wait for it to warm up! Last edited by BlueShift; 01-12-2014 at 03:33 PM. |

Now my 05 STi. This thing is a true beater, it was in a rear end collision, but mechanically in amazing condition. I picked it up for dirty cheap, and I will eventually swap it into a GC. For now it remains my winter beater
![]() This is a perfect reason why my BRZ will never see winter driving. Well this and dirty salty roads: ![]() I bought it with a blown turbo, I wanted to go mostly back to stock so I removed the modified injectors, replaced the AVCS lines, new turbo inlet, Cobb AP, Cobb intake, full fluid change, and some other things im sure: ![]() ![]() It was pretty ricey when I bought it ![]() ![]() Looking much better now, ghetto FMIC will be coming off soon ![]() ![]() Let's see... mods... umm.. Cobb Accessport Invidia downpipe Ebay(I think FMIC) Genuine Bride Ergo II seat Whiteline roll center kit TIC rear lateral link bushings Tein Rear strut tower bar bunch of other parts I don't give two shits about.. I would much rather have a stock STi lol. Right now it's sitting at just under 90K miles. I'm crossing my fingers that I can get a clean GC chassis and do the swap next summer, but realistically it may be the summer after. Last edited by BlueShift; 12-30-2013 at 12:15 AM. |

The De-Ricing of the STi continues!
First getting rid of the horrible/shitty Poor-sport gauges. I also replaced the Cabin filter at the same time. ![]() Out with the rice: And holy dirty cabin filter!! ![]() In with OEM! ![]() Now the real fun begins. Ordered some stuff from Subaru. ![]() Combined with some other stuffs I had laying around for quite some time. ![]() ![]() I'm not Ken Block, so the horrible green shit has to go: ![]() ![]() FMIC be-gone: ![]() Green charge pipes... Gone! ![]() Yummy PTP Lava Turbo Blanket installed: ![]() WTF is this.. Trans inspection plug chilling on back of the flywheel hahaha.. Spent a good hour fishing this little bugger out. ![]() Process West TMIC installed!!!! Even my car is happier! ![]() OEM Bumper Beam installed. I had an aluminum Oswald Performance Beam, but decided I wanted OEM instead... #becausenotracecar ![]() Process West Splitter installed, modified for OEM water sprayer, and Bumper installed. All dressed up and ready to dance. ![]() Next up when time permits. Get OEM rad suports, or paint them black. Remove Amps and wiring, uninstall water meth kit. I *may* in the future go with an Aquamist kit, larger injectors and pump and go for 400 WTQ. For now I am SUPER happy with this setup, no more loud ass blow off valve, boost response is much better, and hopefully less people will try to race me with the giant FMIC removed LOL. Thanks guys! |

Found some other pictures of the STi, I frogot I had done some of these things lol.
Ebay turbo that came on the car. 300 miles(according to seller), although I did find a pinhole leak in the hard oil line which might have been the cause. Grateful that the dude did not know about cars and just "wanted it gone" lol. ![]() Replaced the pinholed turbo oil hard line with a stainless AVCS + turbo line: ![]() Got a killer deal on OEM BBS's ![]() VF39 I paid a bit too much for. ![]() The car came with Tein springs, so I traded my buddy that had 04 STi stock springs and re-greased the dampers: ![]() ![]() Cobb catback out(it was a bit too loud), rusty OEM catback in: ![]() Bride Ergo II seat with Bride Base. One of my favorite reclining seats, OEM seats are FAR too wide for my small frame. ![]() Whiteline Com-C top mounts. Yay Caster and Camber! ![]() Snow Tires Installed. Still rocking these and loving them. ![]() Okay that's all for now

Inspired by some of the guys on here putting tablets in their car, I went out and bought a nexus 7 for the STi. The physical install was much easier than expected, getting the tablet setup and running the way I wanted it to was a bit harder.
The STi came with amps already in it so I decided to get rid of the head unit completely and run the tablet straight to the amps using a aux to RCA adapter. I also used a DC to 5 volt USB adapter to power the tablet. Here is the tablet installed and running. ![]() I quickly ran into an issue, I was only getting 500 mA power to the tablet and could use more power than it was taking in. The solution? Modify the USB data cables so the tablet does not limit the incoming charge. Take the 2 data cables and wire them together. ![]() Now I'm getting a solid 600-1000 mA charge depending on the screen brightness and apps running. Great, okay next problem... Volume control! Well I tried using widgets, but they just don't quite cut it for quick/easy control and it was driving me crazy. So my solution was to wire in a 10k ohm potentiometer. ![]() And I mounted it in a easy to reach location. ![]() Bam! Good volume control! Yay!! I have been sick this whole week so I have not had a chance to tweak and permanently install everything yet. I also bought a new DC to USB converter which should give a bit better charge that I want to test out, but do far I am incredibly happy with it, it really looks like it belongs in the car ![]() Thanks! |
