Ferrari 458 style rims
i've been thinking in my mind of what rims I would like to put on the FT86 once it arrives.
I have noted that "boxy" style cars such as GTR or Lancer Evo look awesome with bulky rims such as the Ralliart rims or the TE37 rims both from Rays wheels; while "sharp" style cars such as Ferrari 430 or Corvette look good with spoked wheels such as RSGT from BBS. this is just my observation of what I feel looks good on certain shaped cars. Of course the Lancer Evo 9 looks awesome in the multispoke OEM BBS it comes stock with as most of the WRC rims i've seen have that sort of shape, however I don't believe it looks good with the RSGT BBS. As seen in the Evolution 10 MR, something just doesn't seem right with the look of the rims on the car. There are cars that I would consider "sharp" also even if the shape of the car doesn't appear to hint that. For example the VW GTI. This car looks awesome with BBS CH, RSGT, OZ ultralegerra (i consider this multi web look WRC style which usually fits any sort of shaped cars). I thought about the shape of the FT86 and it would be considered a "sharp" car. Therefore, I've been trying to search for rims that I thought best show the lines of the car. I think I would personally go for a Ferrari 458 rim look on the FT86. What do you guys think? |

Well I think the size of the rim will matter in the final decision, what looks good as a 19 might not be as sharp if its a 16... Im really going to have to do a lot of test fitting once the production model hits.

I think you're mostly right about the sharp vs. boxy look. I think when you have a "sharp" wheel, such as is the case with the 458, a nice big brake setup is a must. It simply doesn't look right to have all that space with stock brakes in the background. That could be solved easily if Toyo offers a big upgrade from the factory. Although, that may not happen with such a light car. With the new camaro it is a must!

yep, i believe the rims should be just big enough to clear the brakes to allow for the smallest (hopefully means lighter) rim, which may also lead to cheaper tires.
I remember reading the FT86 was on a 19inch set up? Maybe that is the G sport and not the stock ft86. The closest rims I have found to the 458 look is http://www.ozracing.com/at-team/whee...ng/crono-ht/en The ferrari 599 HGTE also uses a 5 spoke O.Z. rim but with a dotted style lip on it. http://www.tuningblog.it/en/2010/03/...9-gtb-fiorano/ *S2000 (sharp look) with TE37 compared to Evo 10 (Boxy look) with TE37 |

OZ Supperleggera
That's all everyone should be getting LOL, THEY DONT WEIGHT ANYTHING. 11lbs for a 15inch 14.7lbs for 17inch I'm guessing like 12 or 13 for 16inch. So. If this is purely for looks and not performance..then i would say...White Superturismo GT wheels from OZ. on the red car would look sick! Otherwise whatever looks good! the superturismo are a bit heavy for my taste...like 20lbs for 16inch |

Thanks for the fix!
Yea the only thing about the enkies is if they are lighter how much weaker are they? And they only look good in 18+ lol I was thinking OZ's 16inch if that barely clears the "track edition" calipers. That sucks that its not on their website anymore! THey have them on tire rack...wish they were a bit wider though

You think so? I was never into classic design, so I have no clue if it looks good or not.

LOL sorry, my blood is made out of gasoline mixed w sushis, so it's different from ya.
![]() No, I understand that, CCW can be looks good. I just don't like so much stuff on the rims. I just like simple design rims. My max I can handle for rims are multi spokes. If it has more than that, it's not my taste. |
