Anyone use the FR-S for business use?
Just wondering if how many people use their FR-S (or BRZ/GT-86) as a company car, or deduct travel expenses related to their employer. I overwhelmingly expect people not to deduct anything from their car, but I'm just curious so I added a poll.

Im a private contracted sports official and write off mileage as a buisness expense. For my 9-5 job I get reimbursed mileage at the federal rate when i travel to different locations for hearings.

The last option on the poll is really stupid, especially for anyone that is an independent contractor or outside sales for a company.
I know plenty of people that work a salaried position, that has their vehicle mileage (and even gas expenses) deducted for tax purposes at the end of the year. Even if you are not given the option by your employer, if you need to drive ANYWHERE during working ours for a legit reason (other than going to lunch), you are entitled to have this mileage deducted from your income. Most don't do it because it's such a tiny expense that won't make any meaningful impact on your finances. -alex |

Well, being retired, I responded with a no (but I didn't agree with the "why would I do that" part.
Heck, in a recent past life, I drove a Miata as a business car .... and I was a real estate broker .... .humfrz |

I'm a finance advisor and I deal with Life insurance, annuities and investments. Milage and gas is a write off. And there is A LOT of driving involved.

I'm a delivery driver and I use my FR-S for hotshot runs, when the packages are small enough. Took water samples to Nashville last week, a machine part to Beech Island SC the day after and a server to a cinema in KY on Saturday. Today I had a library route, picking up and delivering books.
My Ford E350 gets about 13 mpg and I get paid the same regardless of the fuel used, so driving my FRS is a win in every way

I use it to make deliveries for my dad's business. I have to do it really early in the morning though, so I'm aways falling asleep at school.

I do on site IT consulting and put 20-30k per year on a car. The FR-S gets better milage than my Lexus. Writing off milage is at a flat rate with a regulated cap by the IRS. It floats around .50 an mile to cover fuel and wear and tear. Lower maintenance cost and fuel cost is good.

My car is a lease that is expensed through my practice. I write off approximately 75% business and 25% personal. I've put 15K miles on it in 1 year of ownership. The car has been very reliable with no issues.

I can't click on any of those options; i have a company car, a 2013 Jetta 2.5S wagon. But, i have had clients (I'm in technical sales) that see it and want me to take them to lunch in it.
Its hilarious to see people that own higher end BMW's and Merc's and want to go ride in a $25k Toyota. Makes me even more happy with my purchase. |

I selected no in the poll, but then realized that I was kinda lying. I've taken it once for a business trip to houston from austin. with 30 mpg you can really benefit from that 56 cents a mile from the IRS. just a bit more money over my 15 mpg fj cruiser
