Softest OEM setup
I switched to FRS rear springs on my BRZ a couple months ago. It was definitely more neutral, but combined with performance tires (stiffer sidewalls) the ride has proven too stiff for commuting on SoCal's messed up freeways. Now, after spending a few days on BRZ rears/ FRS fronts, it is noticeably more livable.
Handling wise, the softer fronts allow more weight to be shifted during trail braking. That is, understeer is easier to manage. Also, since my favorite canyon road is bumpy, there is now less vertical motion, and more consistent grip. There is a bit more squat accelerating out of corners, but the rear end grip seems slightly improved. Overall, I definitely recommend this setup to those with less that perfect roads. |
