Track day toolbox essentials

So I have done my second track day, and I have to do more. And I would like slowly build up my track toolbox. So far I have 2 jack-stands, torch wrench, car jack, and wheel stops. But I'm not sure what else I should get.

Sorry if this was posted before, I didn't see anything.

I actually went out and bought two clear 50 quart rectangular tupperware bins from Walmart that fit perfectly in the trunk and holds all of my track gear/supplies including jack and jack stands. I used to load in supplies piece by piece, now I just load in the two bins, and at the end of the track weekend, go to my pit stall, load the two bins in the trunk and I'm gone.

Here's my "packing list":

2 jackstands
1 jack
Torque wrench & wheel socket
Metric and SAE wrench and socket set
Duct tape
Zip ties
hose clamps
flashlight
1 bottle Motul brake fluid
1 bottle 0w20 oil
funnel
shop towels
gloves
brake pad compressor tool
OEM pads (just in case race pads get destroyed)
Meguiar's quick detailer and MF towel
Glass Cleaner (essential for track days during lovebug season in FL)

Do you want to be completely self sufficient? If that's the case:

- Lightweight Aluminum floor jack
- 4 jack stands
- 1/2" Torque wrench
- Breaker Bar
- 17mm, 19mm, 21mm deep sockets (standard lug sizes)
- full set of normal sockets in 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 drives
- Duct tape (or Gaffer tape)
- Zip ties
- "set" of hose clamps
- Mallet
- Tire gauge

Nice to have:
- Impact gun (cordless) with a few batteries
- Swivel joints
- Impact sockets

On a typical track day, I take a bag that holds the following tools:

- Cordless Impact
- Extra Battery
- Rubber Mallet
- Locking pliers
- Needle Nose pliers
- 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 ratchets
- 5.5, 6, 8, 10, 12mm 1/4" sockets
- 8, 10, 12, 14, 17mm 3/8" sockets
- 12, 14, 17, 19, 21mm 1/2" sockets
- 17, 19, 21mm deep impact sockets
- 3" 1/2" drive extension
- 9" 3/8" drive extension
- 4" c-clamp
- screwdriver w/ various bits
- 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14mm box end wrenches
- two crescent wrenches
- Tire gauge
- two impact swivel joints
That all fits into a "heavy duty" 8x12x8 craftsman tool bag.

I also take 2 bottles of brake fluid, and a set of front pads. I also pack a pair of front rotors if I'm driving my s2k, or a car with stock-ish front brakes.

A floor jack and jackstands will be easy to source from another attendee, as will an air compressor.

whatever you pack make sure to ad

-hammer
-duct tape
-pliers

that should just about cover it

But in all seriousness I used to obsess and try to be prepared for everything and then when something did happen it wasn't something I expected. So now I just try to bring a range of tools and parts and then just deal with what ever pops up. The events I have been to the other guys there have always been willing to help out if I need something.

For next season I am thinking about incorporating an air compressor into my truck. I already have a electric winch setup to pull a disabled car on to the trailer. No more asking people to help.

see my post above. Get one or two of the 50 quart clear plastic containers from Walmart - fit perfectly in the trunk.
