Something Burning?
Months after getting my fr-s the car has started to grind into 2nd and 3rd Today after needing air in my tires I went to the service department at my local toyota dealership. Bottom line the car has a Burning smell almost like a clutch is going out, but the Stealership employee told me they couldn't do anything about a transmission for months now due to back orders on the transmissions.
Should I go to another dealership and have them diagnose the problems I'm having or am I just going to have to wait until something breaks? And before anyone says it's me burning the clutch I've been driving manual for over 10 years and for the almost 450K total Miles I've logged on my last 3 cars that were manual I've only had to replace one clutch on my G35 after 115k and I bought that car used knowing the clutch was going to need to be replaced. |

Doesn't hurt to stop by at a different dealer. Better safe than sorry!

Seriously, you may consider warming up the engine, set the e-brake, put it in 2nd gear, rev the engine to about 2,500 rpm, let the clutch out slowly to see if it will stall the engine. That is an old school test for a warn clutch. Also, you may wish to check the clutch/brake fluid resevoir to make sure it's topped off. Then you could bleed the clutch line to rid it of any air. Then you could adjust the clutch. Or, just take it down to your local auto shop, come home, take a nap and have them "fix" it ... humfrz Last edited by humfrz; 11-26-2013 at 04:19 PM. |

I'm just in shock at how many issues this car has had with under 4k miles. I've had better luck with 80s Nissan's don't get me wrong I love this car, but no way even in the first year should a car have this many issues. for the input though. |
