3M tape failing on front lip after time?

Just installed a downforce lip that I purchased from a fellow forum member. Put on 8 bolts on the factory slots but it requires 3M tape to give it that perfect seal to be flush with the bumper at the very front/top.

Anyone else have issues with this? Figure I wait off until late spring/summer and give it another go when the weather is warmer to get a better seal. Don't think it's going anywhere with the 8 bolts.

Just curious, anyone decide just to install a front lip without 3M and live with the big of a gap?

I have a lip and only used the bolts. The gap is very minimal. There may be pics in my garage but if you want, I can go to parking lot and snap a pic

Pic would be great for comparison! Thanks brother.

Also - has anyone been able to install side skirts without drilling into the metal? A bit worried about rust.

I wouldn't be surprised if it produces actual downforce. Look at the people that have gaps on their bumpers near the headlights that have stock bumpers.

That looks like a very clean fit; much better than mine without tape.

Was that just from the factory mounting points in the bumper or did you drill additional ones closer to the front, thereby reducing gap at top of lip?

The lip I got was pre drilled. No holes lined up under bumper so all 10 or 12 bolts required new holes drilled. The lip was from JonMotoring here on forum

Ah I see, yeah it's likely that the holes are drilled closer to the front of the lip. Problem with mine is that the factory holes are toward the back of the lip - when tightened, almost wants to peel the front downward if you get what I mean.

I've been very interested in seeing what that lip looks like. Would you mind posting up a picture or two just to see how it looks on your car?
