News for the 2015 FR-S and BRZ
Toyota and Subaru will be unfailing information about the 2015 mid-cycle update for both cars. Toyota has been testing a 2.5l motor, a turbocharged model, and a model with a Hybrid KERS system. Our answer will probably come at the end of this month during the Preview Night. Mark your calendars. More power will most likely be confirmed on November 22nd.
What do you think Toyota and Subaru will do???? Visit this page for schedule. http://www.tokyo-motorshow.com/en/outline/index.html Post your thoughts below!

Source? This is all speculation and I haven't heard of them announcing anything at the show for the twins.

2.5, probably the same engine that will be in the new sti. Only without a turbo. It's the only option out of those three that won't add weight and still keep the price low.

Not to create a rumor mill. Just wanted everyone to be aware that they might actually get some credible information from the auto show…. Instead of just a few "renderings" aka drawings made by a bored artistic editor.

Tada has been testing all three variants. The auto show has been the place where Toyota and Subaru have been releasing their info regarding the FT86 every year. And there has been lots of talk about the refresh in 2015 within Toyota. Which is why STI went with no turbo for the ST for 2014.

Good call. Otherwise they cost too much and weight too much. Effectively destroying the car they create to be light and affordable in the first place.

call me selfish but i hope they don't do anything to the car because i just bought mine this summer haha. if they do do something, talk about getting hosed in the face!
would be cool to see a 2.5L motor. but I bet toyobaru will just carry over a tuned version of the already 2013 forester dit fa20t into the 86/brz. i'm guessing the market for the turbo version will be in the $35k range. At least another $10k more on top of the base car. looks like i'm stuck with the 1st gen fa20

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on nothing regarding added power for the 2015 model. Car is too new to put out a new variant of it. It's not like the bringing over of the STI 2 years after the WRX.

Another option for them to take is to release the 2016 in mid 2015 like they did with the 2013. They would maximize on their original investment with the original motor. Even though with it being the motor in the Crosstrek and the base Impreza now, they wouldn't have to.
