NWOH Spotted and chat thread

I've been seeing some BRZs and FR-Ss around the area. Just saw another dark blue today while getting off from I-75 near Owens. I've seen a few others on Airport Highway. Most drivers look older, so I have no idea if they're on the forum or not. Drop me a line if you are. It'd be good to meet up and chat about mods and any local track/auto cross events.

I have a CBS BRZ Limited. I'm all over the area as it's my daily driver. Also, my windows are tinted very dark. I've seen loads of FR-Ss out and about, but I've yet to see another BRZ.

J-W, I have a CBS BRZ Limited also..... I put it in hibernation a couple weeks ago tho. Windows are not tinted yet, but only because Ive been too busy to get it done. I live in Maumee, and work at the airport but am all over the place also. I see a white frs regularly in maumee but its some older gentleman who owns it I think.

Awesome. What are your plans with it?

My plans are to make it the most enjoyable vehicle it can possibly be. I've made the "rear fog" light a functional tail/brake light. Have clear side markers and plugged the sound tube. I am currently in the middle of redding my taillights, I put the metalcast base on today at work. Before I bring it out in the spring Im thinking wheels tires exhaust and tint..... I really want to make autocross events next season but it all depends on whether or not I can fit it in. I will turbo it eventually but I am definitely not doing that before the warranty is at least nearly out. However that wont take long as much as I drive it, I drove it from late may to early october and already have 16000 miles on it.

We may end up having very similar cars. For spring I'm hoping to have the suspension tuned, wheel and tire upgrades and full exhaust done. Only cosmetic mod I'm planning is the side markers. I'm debating between smoked and clear.

I think Im going to be happy with the red tails but I am not sure. I will let you know when I get em back on the car and see it in person. The sides look so much better clear I totally recommend them! There really are a plethora of mods I would like to do but I have too many projects going on right now to put too much into it. So just easy mods here and there for now.

Rev Works UEL header, Cusco catch can, K&N panel filter. Planning to add a full Perrin exhaust over the winter, maybe next month for xmas. Long-term I'm thinking I might go with the JR supercharger if someone develops an auto tune for it.

Right now I'm getting e-tuned by Drift-Office. The car runs worlds better with their base map. Can't wait to get it fully tuned with map switching in the coming week or so. Need to get the car back on the dyno for the next set of logs.

It sounds great with the stock exhaust. Drift-Office is finalizing the tune and I got 180whp on Accelerated's dyno on Friday. Not bad for an automatic. Hoping to have the cash next month to get a full exhaust.

The only issue I've had is the increased engine noise at startup due to the fact the header doesn't have the added weight and sound deadening on it. Cold starts at <40F are a bit rough for the first 15 seconds or so until the revs drop. If I click out of park right after the car starts up, it goes to 1k and runs smooth. The car normally goes into negative timing until it warms up to operating temp, that's why even the stock setup is loud when it first starts up. I'm hoping Drift-Office will be able to tweak some of that out.

Any issues with a cel or anything? Did you do the install or did you take it somewhere?

I tried the spacer BS to try and avoid the CEL. It didn't help at all. If you're going to go with a header or anything that'll make a big difference in exhaust flow, get a tune.

I went the Ecutek route and have to say the map switching is pretty cool. My only gripe about Ecutek is that you can't adjust the roms yourself. It lets you log and check/clear CELs.

I'm not sure about anyone else in the area, but my BRZ is going to be my DD through the winter. Anyone else with me?

I'm still driving mine. Might switch to the STI if the snow ever hits hard. I suspect this mild winter is going to hit us hard in Jan/Feb.
