Intro & Greet Thread
Hey everyone!
With the launch of the first batch of cars getting closer and closer, I figured we should start up a metro area (can't really say tri-state, haha) intro general thread. Let's get some activity in here. I know there should be plenty of us. We could also post up potential meet-ups in our areas here. Hope to meet some of you fellas and ladies soon! Cheers! :happy0180: Last edited by engee; 05-31-2012 at 04:34 PM. |

I have a great sticker guy and we can setup an online place to order them from us and we'll even help to subsidize them as well.

I can't wait until more manufactures come out with aftermarket parts for the BRZ/FR-S! It will be exciting to promote and market products for these vehicles! |

Ok ladies & gents, I came up with two names so far for our area group... 1st is Metro-86. This can be used for all the states with in this thread. 2nd is more for Tri-State area, Tri-86. Let know what u think & ill start drawing some ideas for it. If you have any name suggestions please let me know asap. Being that we are all New Jersey people we can do suttin for NJ only if you like.

Ok, I'll start...
My name is Emil. Unlike the people above, I don't know how to make logos. I do have a white BRZ Limited (with a proper stick shift -- yeah, I said it.) on order from Riverhead Bay Subaru. I ordered from Riverhead Bay for 2 reasons: 1) Tim McCutchan at the dealer emailed me on a Sunday night at 8pm (shortly after I filled out the form on subaru.com) and we did the whole deal by email. I was even on a plane at the time, so I couldn't have called him even if I wanted to. 2) My dad bought his first Porsche from "Peconic Bay Motors" which used to be at that same location -- and even though Peconic Bay Motors is long gone, I have many fond memories of spending time at that dealership looking at cars that I thought I'd never be able to afford. ANYWAY, I'm hoping to track the living shit out of my BRZ. Like run the thing in to the ground until it cannot take it anymore. Drive it the way nature intended it. Shredding tires until the sun goes down. Running it hard and fast. You get the idea... I had the privilege of driving one at an event a while ago...
", but it's a ton of fun. More fun than a lot of things I've driven. For what it's worth, my first 2 cars were Miatas. They were, for all their foibles and short comings, amazing. In fact, I was driving some spec Miatas at Monticello 2 weeks ago -- I'd forgotten how fun they are to drive. Very reminiscent of the BRZ. A pure driving experience. Not as "performance" oriented, but certainly a very basic, pure, thrilling driving experience. Since the Miata's I've had a lot of cars. E36 M Roadster, E46 M3, B7 RS4, more 911s than I care to admit... a Ferrari or 3, a couple of Gallardos and the occasional actual race car. Some pics of current cars are attached below. Oh, and the Riley isn't mine. It belongs to Riley, but they let me drive it. I'm an investor in the company, so I consider it my company car. ![]() Speaking of racing, I see there's a lot of AutoX'ers here. I'm ok with the cones, but more of a track driver. And occasional actual racer. I drove the 2007 La Carrera Panamericana in a 2006 911 GT3 -- which I still own and hope to be buried in when I die I drove the 2nd and 3rd Targa Molise in a Williams prepared Renault Clio with Rally Point. And I've done some "guest driving" in the Porsche SuperCup Asia, Ferrari Challenge, and some other WRC races. I'll probably do the 4th Targa Molise this year -- I need to wrap up a few things to find the time to go racing again. I'd love to do Carrera again and have my eyes set on a few other things, too.I'm looking forward to meeting other BRZ owners & fans. There's a lot for me to learn in the "japanese import" world and so far I've met a few pretty cool people here. I normally don't get too engaged in forums (although I do love Team Speed and Ferrari Chat) but everyone here seems like a real enthusiast and very excited for this car. I'll see if I can convince Monticello to do a "BRZ day"... try to convince some of you cone carving AutoX types to do more track driving. If not, I've got an ok sized parking lot in the Hamptons near a building I've got we might be able to use for a very short driving course...
