Yup cool. Although this was THE car while I was in high school, so I might be voting based on nostalgia. But nevertheless I still love to see an unmolested one roving the streets.

It also came with a carryover 1.8L 4 banger from '92-'95 then a mildly reworked version displacing 1.9L from '96-'99. Peak power was 144BHP on Premium fuel. Which was okay for such a tiny economy car engine from almost 20 years ago. The Miata didn't even make 140BHP from a 1.8L until 2004, 9 years later. I believe there was a 2.5L I6 model at some point but it wasn't special.

The 318ti is the hot version, if you can call it that. Not only is it the shortest but the lightest version of the E36. Performance was modest with the 144BHP 1.8L/1.9L but the coupe and sedan were almost 200lbs heavier with the exact same engine. The ti also had a slightly different rear suspension setup to make the hatchback area more worthwhile.

The new body style was still attractive, the chassis wasn't on the heavy side, and it was still a respectable handling car. I'd say cool, ignoring the BMW stereotype.
