Noise after KW V3 install?

Just finished the install of my KW V3's and go for a quick drive. There is an awful noise coming from the rear coilovers during any suspension travel. I go back to the garage and take it apart and check everything out, raise it up a bit just in case, and put it all back, double checking it all. Guess what?! Damn noise is still there. Sounds like it is maybe coming from the top hats, not sure though. Both sides are loud. I am stumped.

What top hats are you using? Did you load the suspension before torquing everything down? How low are you?

I'm lowered 1" and no noises. It could be your sway bar endlinks as some have reported noises when lowered quite a bit.

Have the KW Clubsports and I too have a loud clanking sound from the rear when I hit bumps. I am still on stock sway bar end links and will be changing those to adjustable ones over the next 2 days. I will report back if the sound goes away.

I am using OEM top hats. Yes, suspension was torqued properly. I actually raised the car up to see if that was the problem, I am not sure how much lower it is, but I am not "slammed" at all. I hope it is the sway bar endlinks and not something broken!

Yeah, my noise is a sort of clanking as well. Hope what you do works!

Did the end links. Still sounds the same. Mechanic says it's the metal on metal top hats and there isn't much that can be done.

Bummer. I fixed my problem, and it was as simple as tightening down that center nut more (so it was the same thing you are experiencing). I was very surprised that was the problem seeing as I torqued it down pretty good. I had a buddy hold the 8mm top in place and I cranked it down quite a few more turns and voila it is fixed. Might want to give it a try?

Just be careful with those nuts on the rear. When I was speaking with Myles from RaceComp, he told me that he's seen more than a few snap when over-torqued.

Your suspension shouldn't make any noise like that, your mechanic is a fool. I have had my V3's on for over 3000 miles now. This is the 3rd thread about clunking KW's in the past 2 days. All sounds like the same thing the top mount center nut came loose a bit after driving. Take the coilover off, use a hex to keep the strut from spinning and a wrench to tighten the center nut, reinstall coil, enjoy.
