Drift-Office : Rev Works UEL Header... Tuned!

Ref : http://www.revworksinc.com/Rev-Works...T86_p_740.html

So over the last couple of months, we @ Drift-Office managed to finish a series of calibrations with both AT and MT GT86s running the RW UELs. Most recently, we had a customer come in with a 6AT setup sporting an Injen intake (the same one I used for the intake testing over a year ago) and surprisingly, still without any issues. Must be one of those mystical ones apparently!

Anyway, here's what his pre-tune dyno baseline looked like ~ this is his last run with the Injen intake and now, the same setup with the RW UEL bolted on... As you can see, you'll need a tune to realize any gains here. The header only yielded a bit in the last 600rpms of the run...

After that, we quickly added an AVO over pipe and a J2 front pipe. Client is headed towards a SC unit here before long so we used the AVO op as there hasn't been any clearance issues with those in an AT setup before, and here are the results :

This is in line with another AT car from Canada with the RW UEL as well that we did some months back... The numbers aren't as stellar as the competition and at first, I had thought that it was the Canadian fuel that was used but it's pretty indicative as it's in line with the dyno chat posted in the RW ref link at the top of the post. Oddly enough, no matter what we did, there was still a slight TQ dip @ 3700RPM, though there seems to be better bottom end torque in this particular case.

On the the 6MT variant - also another Canadian car, and this one had 92 octane from the Chevron down the street from me... RW UEL / Nameless OP and FP / Perrin 2.5 inch CBE.

There you have it! Yes, I know most of you would want me to overlay the Borla over this but that's going to be in another thread...

Enjoy, discuss, et al.

Ok, so the first plot is factory tune + injen intake + Rev Works UEL, and the second plot is the same + tune + over pipe + front pipe? Just trying to make sure I comprehended that correctly.

Sorry, I see the possible confusion ~ First plot:

100% OEM factory tune + Injen intake + 100% OEM exhaust. (BLUE)
100% OEM factory tune + Injen intake + OEM FP / OP + invidia exhaust + RW UEL. (RED)

Seems the second graph eliminates the dip the most.

Hhhmmm I haven't looked at the plots in a while but what would you say to people and vendors claiming more than 10whp from just a tune on a stock car....

Doesn't seem like anything outside the EL hks and T1R are worth putting on the car.

In the last graph is it:

1. stock exhaust/stock tune vs. RW header+Header-back exhaust/tuned
or
2. Header-back Exhaust/stock tune vs. RW header+Header-back exhaust/tuned
or
Header-back Exhaust/tuned vs. RW header+Header-back exhaust/tuned

I get almost 17-18 in some 100% stock GT86s with just a panel filter... And it's the tune that makes the power. The header is what helps fill in some of the dull spots.

As you can see in this case, the header did little to realize any gains...

It's RW UEL Header + Header Back Exhaust + Stock Tune (PRE TUNE) vs RW UEL Header + Header Back Exhaust + DO NA UEL Header Tune

Cheers!

What is the install time for the headers? In most applications, they aren't the easiest thing to install and don't seem to yield huge gains.

I think in N/A, these cars just need front pipe + catback + intake. Standard trio.

Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.

I'm interested to see the Borla overlay.
