Modify your snorkel (pics)
Im not aiming for any HP increase here. Just wanted to see if I could modify the intake sound.
Right now im running a shortened version of stock. Tonight I modded another one so it is pretty much a tube only. Im gonna post these in seperated replies because this tap a talk sucks with multiple pics. Sent from a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X |

Cut out using hobby soldering iron from radio shack. Same as used in the painting tailight thread. Could use anything really.

Thrift store oil drip pan for a few bucks. Plastic flexible yet sturdy enough.

Interesting that at the smallest the snorkel is about the same size as the throttle body. Makes me wonder if the snorkel is really the restriction that some people think it is.

There are a couple threads that I saw on that debate. I think the smaller size would increase the velocity through the opening.

I modded my snorkel similar to the first picture with just the big opening. I pushed it farther then that to take advantage of the larger diameter at the intake box end.
I am on the stock tune currently, but I noticed a difference. Low end is much more responsive and the top pulls a little bit more as well. Just a heads up to those. Forget patching the holes and keeping the full part. Just cut it off at the 90 bend and open up the port so that it faces straight forward with the opening and be done with it. |
