Dash Bezel Black-Out

The dash bezels may be appealing to some, but personally it's not for me, especially with a raven black exterior. Did this mod on my previous car, figured I could do it again on this one.

Wet sand the original bezels, air dry, and use several light coats of the spray paint. You're gonna have to air it out for a few hours, the odor may linger around once you reinstall.

Materials:
220 grit sandpaper
320 grit sandpaper
Krylon Fusion Flat Black Plastic spray

Love the look. It could be anodized aluminum. I'd copy you in a heartbeat, but I'm a bit worried about fingerprints, long term wear and upkeep procedures. Did it wear well on the previous car? In any case, looks great! :-)

i really like that-- it would allow for a aftermarket radio install as well...

Never wore out in the previous car, even in direct sunlight. Fingerprints will only show if you have grease on 'em, won't leave marks and smudges unless you really try to.

Krylon has a variety of colors for their "Fusion" line. I was thinking of going with the color I used for my rims and badges, but decided against it since I like a dark & simple look inside.

Flat and no contrast is what I'm going for, I used flat black...hence "black-out". Wouldn't be a black-out with multiple colors, right?

Try krylon Satin Black. They are much better finish imo.

Or, you can read the "Black Button" thread and learn where to buy the already-black dash bits from Japan...

I saw this earlier, but why have two sets of the same thing, in different color? I doubt anyone would need to buy the factory OEM trim and bezels.

Black-out Continues

Continued today with the shift trim and around the VSC/Traction Control buttons.

The idea at first was to paint the middle, dummy button to make the two control buttons pop-out, but now I think they might pop-out a little too much.

Eh, we'll see if it grows on me. Almost completely murdered out, I need to figure out to paint the rings around the air vents

BONUS: You can change the color tone for the switches if you cut out the colored, rubber film around the two LED's. Remove the rubber from the trim and try to look through it, you'll notice everything looks brownish. Cutting it out and the lighting will be clear
