SATurday September 28th Autocross

Bowie Baysox Stadium, Bowie, MD is the location of the next autocross on SATURDAY September 28th.

Registration and tech inspection will be at 8:00 and will promptly close at 8:45 to try to accommodate the full field, while still giving 6 runs. You must be DONE by 8:45. So if you arrive at 8:00 you won't have a problem. Don't arrive at the last minute.

The event fee for the Saturday autocross is $30 for members and $40 for non-members at this event.

On-line Reservation System

Member reservations (or participants that will join the club upon showing up) for any events can be made at any time www.capitaldrivingclub.com under the Schedule Tab. Open reservations for non-members for this event begin Friday September 20th.

New Members

We will be accepting new members at this event. If you plan to join the club at this event, you may make a reservation at this time by doing the following:

1. Use "0" as the member number (a permanent number will be assigned to you after you join and you will get a temporary number for this event)

2. TYPE "I will be joining the club at this event" in the NOTES Section when making you reservation.

The annual membership is $30 and is good for 12 months from the date you join.

Not at all. Several years ago, we stopped announcing our events with the local forums because we were filling out the field. When the recession hit, we went from a sell out field to losing money at every event with as few as 20 participants! Now we don't take anything for granted and try to keep the word out on our events.

I figure that those that autocross, know us and get our e-mails. However, the people that never tried CDC, probably won't get much exposure unless we (those on the forums and the club) post information on our events.

I think it's a good marketing move and I'll keep steering more folks your way, I'm always surprise at how many people really want to try it but don't realize how accessible it is. I'm bringing two more first timers on the 28th btw

Having only started autocross last year I can attest to what Nate is talking about. All I heard from people was "oh it's going to destroy your tires" and "you will void your warranty when you step foot on the lot".

Utter crap.

Of course all of these things were, ironically, true in my case. But that was a life decision! I just got too addicted to how awesome and fun autocross is, and then I bought a turbo...

My point, though, is that it's incredibly accessible, addictive, and loads of fun. And CDC is the most laid back group I've found. Plenty of real competition if you're serious about it, but all friendly folks.
