Compared to...? I never rode with an SPL meter, so I can't give you an actual number. I really like it, but I'm selling the car, so...I guess the best thing I can say is "I'd buy it again" if I had another BRZ. There's no rasp at all; the underbody muffler design with lots of tailpipe makes the tone pretty mellow. It's not what I'd call objectionable; I'd be surprised if it's louder than 'street legal'. Sounds like the car should have, stock, IMO. It doesn't drone but it does highlight the resonant frequency of the cabin - with the windows up, it's right at 2K RPM. It builds in volume from about 1600, then disappears instantly above 2000. I thought it was the exhaust resonating, but then when I put the stock system back on I can hear it there too, it's just really really subdued. And anyway, 2000 RPM doesn't correspond to any speed I drove for any length of time. |

And I've had some less than desirable experience with my dealer's service department. The kicker is, last month I started telecommuting. So the two main reasons I chose the BRZ over other cars no longer apply. I can either replace it, or just sell it, and either way I get rid of a couple headaches. |
