Stierzy34's 13 DGM BRZ
Well, figured I would give it a go. To start, I will give you a bit of an idea of how I ended up with the BRZ. I saw it when it came out and liked it, but not enough to give up my WRX. Then I went to the St. Peter's dealership and there was one there. NOT GOOD. Sat in it, drove it, loved it. Still went through a lot of anguish and research to find if I really wanted to give up something like my WRX for it, but ultimately, I went for it. Just for records sake, I never looked back once
As I was on vacation when the car was scheduled to be delivered, I had to ask a trusted friend to take delivery. And when I was +3000 miles away, he sends me updates. ![]() ![]() ![]() Of course, the back of the car was littered with bugs from the journey from Colorado. A wash the next day was absolutely in order. ![]() ![]() Was able to get a great price from the dealership for tint and a full clear bra as well! Woot. |

So, I had kind of stockpilled some parts from the wait for the car to come in. First thing was first, that center armrest had to be changed. Not only did it not give you a place to put your elbow but also, with the armrest, gives you a great concealed place to put sunglasses, etc, etc. There are a few options but I really liked the OEM Toyota one the best (minus the price).
![]() Another place that I thought needed some cosmetic help were the sidemarkers. I've never been a huge fan of the amber markers, so clear markers went in! ![]() In addition to the clear markers, I put on the OEM Toyota mud guards. I had the rally armor flaps on both of my WRXs but to me, they didn't seem to fit as well with the BRZ. The OEM guards give me a little more protection down the side of the car without having them be flappy or bulky. Despite my best efforts to wait and after a lot of research, it was time to put the intake and exhaust on. I went with the aFe Takeda short ram for the intake and the FT86 Speedfactory V1 resonated exhaust. The pile of stock intake piping + sound tube. ![]() And the finished product. Fits well, sounds good, works great. ![]() ![]() I must have spent days on Youtube trying to figure out what exhaust I wanted to get. I knew I didn't want a loud exhaust after two decently loud WRXs. Plus with the power decrease, I felt like this car really didn't need a shouty exhaust. The Speedfactory exhaust was all that I was looking for. No rasp, no drone, and with the added resonator, the volume is perfect. It can get louder when you are getting on it, but when cruising on the highway, it sounds stock. PLUS, the OEM tips killed the rear end of the car. Exhibit A: ![]() Exhibit B: ![]() ![]() Much better!

As for the interior, it is still in the "disassembled" stage. Sent out a few pieces to JPM Coachworks about 2 weeks ago and it should be returning back to me soon.
Before: (Or I guess during, really) ![]() After: TBD ![]() I installed the Kartboy rear shifter bushing while I was replacing the exhaust and will be putting the short shifter in when the interior gets torn down again to reinstall the JPM parts. I noticed a bit of a difference with the rear bushing but really think I need to do a fluid change. My shifts still feel a little beyond just "notchy." I will update when the car gets her updates! |

Thanks!
I will be doing springs and wheels in the spring. Don't really want to put them on now right before we hit colder weather. Maybe FI way way way in the future. But that is only a maybe. As for right now, just small little things to keep me happy
