Legal tinting limit or live life dangerously
With CA tinting limit is 70% in the front, I was wondering what most of you are doing tint wise? What % do you think it's a safe bet, which % is "you're just asking for it." I'm thinking maybe 50% is safe enough for cops to be lenient yet still have the tint look. So what's your tint?

Front 35% everything else 20%. 5% is just asking to get pulled over. Safe bet would be 35% to be honest.

The whole tint thing has become a little confusing lately. There is a new type of tint that has become popular, it is a carbon based tint, the old style tint is metal based. The metal based tints come in the usual percentages (%35, %20, %15, etc.), while the carbon tint is different (%35, %25, %17). When I tinted my cars in the past I would always get %20, still technically illegal here in Tennessee, but it wasn't too obvious, such as %5. The new carbon tint is superior to metal so I tinted my fr-s with the carbon. The tint shop recommended %25, which I though wouldn't look dark enough, but it turned out to be the right choice. Still of course technically illegal, but I have had no problems yet. The shop told me if I get a ticket they will write me up a receipt saying they took the tint off for when I go in to court, haha pretty sweet right? He told me that the UV blocker already in our windows makes the added tint layer look even darker. Here are some pics of my car with %25 carbon tint.

I have 50% on the front driver and passenger side windows and 35% in the back windows, and it looks good but you can still clearly see through the 50%. Im thinking of changing to 35% all around possibly even 25% just to get the nice tint look. Havent had any problems and im within legal limits.
