TRUE ITALIAN CUISINE - GIFT from Italy for American Guys on Forum!

So, guys…I read with attention all your contribution and I must say THAT without you and your help some works on my BRZ shouldn’t have had success. Many thanks for keep in right my English too, not only for my job.

A little gift as Italian to explain the Top Ten errors on the table of all the world about our cuisine and Country. So when you decide to eat by an Italian restaurant in USA or visit Italy are advised....

This comes from a famous newspaper in Italy “LaRepubblica”.

When I visited Florida and California, NY I wished to taste only the original, true and american flavour of cousine. I remember Seminole’s food in Florida like fried gators..or Yorker steak in New York, wonderful…..and original Budweiser made with all american contents. Cheery Coke too….(not sold in Italy), fried chicken and so on.
I tasted for an example...some Spaghetti by Spaghetti Hut...it was a crime, a federal crime...

I translate (not letterally) for you, follow pictures on original Repubblica’s web site.

http://d.repubblica.it/cucina/2013/0...?ref=HRESS-3#1

#1 NEVER TASTE CAPPUCCINO while EATING! (do you eat apple pie with fried chicken at the same time?)
Espresso and Cappuccino are the pride of Italy in the world. Espresso is tasted ONLY AT THE END OF THE MEAL, the Cappuccino ONLY for breakfast with croissant (not with butter….they are French on this way).
You can drink a Cappuccino @ the end of a meal, BUT an Italian would never do that…

#2 RICE AND PASTA ARE PRIMARY….
Pasta and Risotto are unique and individual…they not serve any other food. Only exceptions is Osso Buco alla Milanese. Serve the Pasta next to another food is the common error…we aren’t in India, we are in Italy…so it’s a sacrilege.

#3 NO OLIVE OIL IN WATER….FOR SPAGHETTI OR PASTA!
PASTA needs only water…and salt, after you decide the next contents…..we do that since Middle Age…

#4 KETCHUP ON PASTA…
This is the great shock for us…we consider that such as a Federal Crime…taste only with Hot Dog….like americans do.

#5 SPAGHETTI ALLA BOLOGNESE?
They have never exists in Italian Cousine….never. They are TAGLIATELLE, only tagliatelle must be served with ragou….and Spaghetti cannot be served with Ragou….it’s a crime.

#6 PASTA AND CHICKEN…..?
Repeat again…we aren’t in India….None in Italy will serve you this combination, this set…It’s embarrassing…

#7 CAESAR SALAD….
Inventor….Caesar Cardini…he was a Chef that we don’t know…, no name, no famous. It’s not a tipical italian salad…(we eat only with vinagrette, Olive oil, lemon juice or Vinagre, soft Spices)

#8 RED CHECKED TABLECLOTH..
With no reason this tablecloth is associated to italian food or cuisine…It’s only an image for tourists….We don’t use neither for a pic-nic. Some "5 Stars" restaurant all over the world have on their tables….
Only near Colosseo you will find these….(THERE YOU CAN EAT ALL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TRUE TIPICAL ITALIAN FOOD)

#9 FETTUCCINE ALFREDO…are famous only overseas….
Inventor is Aldredo Di Lelio during Dolce Vita (60’s)….and are a top request from american tourist…In Italy is almost difficult to find who can prepare for you. This taste and flavour haven’t had success in Italy.

#10 MAMMA….ahaha
Each woman learns from Mamma directions and experieces, Mamma in Italy is a GUARDIAN of tradition and history.

Love and food are the basis of Italian family (not the Corleone’s stereotype). Each food is a gift from Lord, it’s for all.

Endly...my annotation about wine:
only white wine is served @7/9C°....red wine needs (first of all if aged) 30 minutes of opened bottle or decanter to acquire full proper flavours. A Gallo Nero Chianti cannot be trunk just open....
Thanks Guys for the help!

Ketchup on hot dogs? This is the biggest travesty on your list! Mustard only!

Thanks for the list, always good to see other people's perspective on things. Especially the bit about Bud - it's amazing how popular that brand is with non-Americans.

Ciao!

Who puts ketchup on pasta?

And I always use it on hotdogs. I'm not into vinegar though.

Interesting read, thanks for the contribution. Gotta agree with 7thgear though, I love some pasta and chicken mixed, with something like a garlic asiago sauce. Yum.

And for those that ask who puts ketchup on pasta..? The people on Honey Boo Boo, that's who. Sketti is what they called it, I believe. Look it up, prepare to be disgusted.

Listen up people this list has a lot of truth in it.

When I visited Italy the food there was done perfectly, the biggest reason I would love to live there, compared to U.S. standards. The portions vary, the preparation is different, and the overall taste of true Italian food is nearly unmatched by other world foods. Though, living in the U.S, I've grown to accept most American foods, especially the combination of chicken and pasta as a main course.

Other than that, I'm hungry right about now and thinking about Italian food. Thanks.

Ha, that reminds me some stranger at a party told me about this. I was so confused cause he sorta made a big deal about it. He told me I should only ketchup on burgers and mustard is only allowed on hot dogs.

Didn't realize it was that big of deal.

Yeah! I spoke about rice 'cause often is a basic of Asian culture. Chicken and rice are proper of chinese people.
KO for arancini with ketchup....we use tomato (pure) to grant a nice aspect and sweet taste (not much).
VERY GOOD for "al dente" this way of cooking preserves all amid, contents and this is chemistry... so amid isn't destroyed during boiling and you can feel yourself more "light" after a rich lunch.
