dizzario's Rarely Updated Build Thread

So there's no magical story here. Bought an S13 when I was on the East coast and then my wife was all like,

"Dude...no. This is going to be way too much for you. This isn't even a clean start."
"Well yeah that's the point. You don't get it because you have freckles, you part-ginger fuck."
"Well that may be but let's go look at cars today since it's raining too much to go to the beach."
"Well it's Florida and the rain is warm. I like going to the beach in this weather."
"Well if you want to ever see my sweater hams again then you'll entertain the idea. I've put up with a few of your builds already you never-content impulse-buyer."
"Fair enough."

*IMPLUSE BUY OF THE FIRST RWD THING WITH A GOOD REPUTATION ENSUES*

...and now I'm here. I thought I'd have to keep the car stock until next year to save some money but when a deal via a friend in Japan was too good to pass up, I pulled the trigger on some suspension. My buddy over there is awesome and really passionate about what he does. I'm envious. You guys should check out his Facebook page called All That Low ( https://www.facebook.com/allthatlow?fref=ts ) This is the best place to see photography of ANY and ALL things automotive without all the fancy editing techniques. He prides himself on the raw images without tons of editing. Super cool guy.

Anywho, I ordered a set of Nichiei Racing Project BLACK coilovers through him and I'm told I'm the first to receive a set in the US for the FRS! They look great and are used on the company's drift cars. Mine are Special Edition colored, 33-way adjustable, and are front camber-adjustable. This is what they look like:

This weekend was Labor Day weekend so I spent some time off base. This upcoming weekend I'm doing the install. I've got my feelers out for some wheels but I don't know what my budget is. I refuse to buy replica wheels (after debating it over in my head) so I'm most likely going to ride ugly stockers for now. No offense to any one pulling replicas off, but I just know I'd buy real wheels later so I'm being patient this time.

-D.

UPDATE: 18DEC13

So this past weekend I got my steering wheel in and the wheels mounted. Yesterday I adjusted the coilovers almost collar-to-collar in the front. I want to go lower but I'm not going to trouble myself with removing the front collars until I get stationed in March 2014. I think this is good enough for now.

UPDATE: 19JUL14

CURRENTLY ON:
Nichiei Racing Project BLACK Coilovers
Powered By Max Rear LCA's
Battle Version Toe Arms
17x9.5+40 TE37RTs
235/40 Yoko S.Drives

...and JDM-version TOM'S Tail Lights because I sometimes buy shit for looks, duh.

Welcome.

Where in Cali? I assume San Diego, given the Navy?

I'm from a town called Temecula and it's 45min north of SD. I miss it every day lol. I'm in FL on some nerd base with the Navy...I'll be here for a while. After my school is out I get to choose my orders (perks of choosing a certain contract) and I'll be going to SD if I can or Japan with my wife. Fingers crossed, right?

I've actually looked at your build and the car already looks great!

Well after my initial post and realizing that the autoshop on base has the shittiest hours of operation ever, I experienced some delays in getting this shit done. Finally got them on and now I'm waiting for them to settle a bit before I post the pictures of the height. Ride quality is awesome, but my front swaybar seems to be making excess noise. I posted about it elsewhere but if you guys have any info it's greatly appreciated!

Pictures after install:

Sorry for the shitty pictures. Not my own photos. I had a buddy take some shots since I was greasy and this is what I got -__-

I think six spokes and five spokes look great on the 86's- like the TE37's and Advan TC III's!

Ugggggh I'm finding more and more reasons every single day to kill the guy that decided to give us a 5x100 bolt pattern. I don't want to 'ball out' on wheels yet but you'd think I'd be able to find SOMETHING that's non-replica with decent sizing. FML!

They're pretty solid man! I don't drive that rough but I take curves very 'spiritedly' and these just feel like I'm on railroad tracks. I'm going to adjust them this weekend so I can take more pictures. If you're interested in a set, I can put you in contact with the guy I bought them from.

Nichiei Project is a drift team out of Japan. I was told I have the only set in the US for the FRS. I believe some guys with S14s have used their application as well. You have to look up Nichiei on Facebook...but it's all in Japanese. PM me for any help/details man! Always love to help out a fellow FRS dude.

Nice!

I may have to consider these for my S14. I've been looking for a nice set of coil overs. I don't want to spend a king's ransom on them, but I don't want cheap-o eBay ones either.

Yeah man these are great! The best set I've ever had was a set of Feal 441's for my S13 and those are really nice. These are definitely on par with those.
