Who needs a hybrid!?

Couldn't believe it this morning, but this is my 16 mile commute on the I-5 North in SoCal traffic from a Costco Gas to my work parking lot (in traffic)! I wasn't pushing it too hard but wasn't totally doing FE driving.

FR-S M/T with about 4500 miles on it and a full tank of gas!

That is great mileage! However, I must say that the "trip computer" at least in my experience is very generous in its calculations. When I do the math manually at fill-up, I am often several miles per gallon LESS than what the computer says.

The best mine has ever displayed is 32 MPG (I have a manual, and drive mostly in town with stop and go). My typical average at fill-up is 24 to 26.

That's true. I keep track of my mileage at the pump and reset my average mpg meter every time. It usually reads about 2 mpg better than what the pump says. This was the first time I've ever seen the meter hit 40 though.

I drove 365 miles a few weekends ago and averaged around 34.5 MPG. BRZ has over 10000 miles and is a manual. I was quite impressed. You can also check my Fuelly in my sig

According to the trip computer I'm rocking 23.0mpg. I think around 1,250 miles on the odo and I haven't reset it. And I'm generally easy on the skinny pedal. I do have about 58790825 stop signs in my daily 4 mile round trip commute so that explains it.

Its really impressive how well this car does on gas when your not driving like an a-hole. My current best was during a return trip from Williamsburg VA to wilkes-barre PA. i did the entire 334 miles trip on less then a tank of gas getting my highest avg. of 44mpg, this was even with 2 hours of stop and go traffic, going 65-75 mph when possible, and having 265/40 18's on the back and 255/40 18's up front on 18x9.5 rpf1's. 6spd manual trans also.

I was speechless.

Edit:
i lied, just found the picture i took of my avg. during the trip,

I get about 32-33 MPG highway and 23 city. I came from a TSX before this so its not much of a difference. However, I love that I can get this mileage in a sports car.

A great way to track true mileage is with Fuelly . Also a benefit is that you can add it to your signature.
I have been very impressed by how well this engine is able to manage fuel. Stock tune or not this engine really likes to use every last drop...

How accurate is the MPG display? I think mine is way off to be honest with the mid 30's. Id say im getting maybe 26-28 (mostly highway with mild traffic miles)

Its "relatively" accurate in my experience. I track my mileage and fuel fillups using the Fuelly app + resetting the trip/average MPG at each fillup.

Car computer has me between 27.5 - 31 mpg with about 50/50 highway/city driving. Fuelly app has me at 27.9.

How flat are the places you guys drive?!?

I have 21.5mpg mixed on my FR-S and it's kept below 3k RPM since it has 430 miles.
I get 42mpg mixed on my 2012 Prius.
I had a Scion xD that got 19mpg mixed
My 06 Corolla gets 24mpg mixed.

I do live in a hilly place with 8-12% grades for over a mile.
