My Smartphone Mount Solution

Not the prettiest, but it works. I don't like anything on the top of the dash or on the windshield, and the CD-slot mount would block part of the headunit screen.

Yes, I do have nav, but I use my phone in the car for Waze, a navigation app that shows accidents, real time traffic and most important, user-reported police activity, so I need it where I can easily see it.

Waze is an awesome app and now that Google has bought Waze, you can get all the Waze info on Google maps too and vice versa with Waze.

Are you running the cable under the carpet? If you are, would you mind posting a picture with the door open?

It's really not complicated. It's a 10' iPhone extension in red (because racecar). I ran it down the side of the tunnel, under the carpet then up against the wall near the dead pedal, tucked it between the dash and the body and up to it's current location. I have an Exomount, though I'm not sure I will stick with it. I haven't driven with this setup, I need to see if the phone will vibrate out of the claw. I'm thinking I'm going to try and find a mount similar to what I had in my old car, a Bracketron (supports the bottom of the unit). Problem is, I need to find a female version that takes the ball (hehe) of the Exomount. Everything that I have seen from Bracketron and similar products is a male, made for a female mount.

I have a RAM mount and it is unbelievably good. It doesn't rattle at all.

...and here I was thinking it was to match the stitching.

Seriously though, I never would have thought of sticking the thing on the door.

My flux2 is on that door panel so im stuck with my phone sitting in the cup holder

I went out and bought a Pioneer HU with that AppRadio function so I could have my phone displayed on the HU.... What an F***ing gimick that is guys. Slow, glitchy and you cant do anything even close to multitask. PLus you need to be friggin stopped to do anything...

As Waze gets bigger I bet it will find its way into cars from the manufacturer, similar to Pandora. At least that's my hope, then I'll have no need for mounting the phone anywhere.

Take a look at the Pioneer head units that feature app radio. They can pass waze through to the the display of the head unit. All touch features work. And you can put your iPhone anywhere at that point.
