Turbo kit issues
Hey, I'm having an issue getting everything running right on my fa20club turbo kit and am wondering if anyone has encountered a similar situation
We originally set it up to run on the stock fuel system, and 60 trim turbo. On the base map it ran well, but as soon as it got to 0.00 vaccum/boost it died and stopped accelerating. I feel like I've checked everything a thousand times but don't know what the issue could have been My only idea was that it could have been the fuel system, so I installed the fuel pump and 550cc injectors. Toni sent me a map for the new fuel system, and now it doesn't start at all. Neither of us have any idea what the source of the problem could be, and its 100% isolated to me. I'm running out of ideas and paitence. Thanks. |

Check for boost leaks Did you upgrade the MAP sensor? (Please say yest o this one...) Do you have an AFR gauge? When it was dying and stopping acceleration, what did your AFR look like? Where you logging with ECUtek? you can get an idea on AFR from the Log How did you install the FP? See this thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33993

I would recommend doing a boost leak test. What pump and injectors did you install? What wideband are you using? Is the maf some how installed wrong? How did yo do your vacuum distribution?

If you installed a FP and it fails to start now, then I would almost surely say something went wrong with the FP install. Pull the fuel lines off where the quick disconnect fitting is and see if any fuel comes out when you prime the system. If fuel comes out and it still won't start then try holding the throttle wide open while starting and see if that does the trick. There is no way the OEM injectors and pump were the original cause of your issue.

^ I agree with @King Tut,
I suspect either a bad boost leak causing the initial issue at 0psi or it was overly rich or lean on the base map. Entirely possible you missed something during the install of the kit since that is when the first issue appeared.

Thankfully the solution has been found! The problem was the fuel pump the whole time. A few things that aren't really mentioned in the instructions and are apparently VERY important. First off when the fuel pump is installed in the housing there are three pieces to be installed on the top of the fuel pump, the white plastic ring from the oem pump, and 2 Orings on top of it. Not using that white plastic ring causes a significant lack in fuel pressure. Sencondly, in the DW instructions it shows in the picture, but doesn't actually mention it in the instructions from what i've seen, the piece that clips to the bottom of the pump and housing (oem fuel filter attached to it) needs to be cut and the half that isn't under the pump needs to be clipped in to hold that metal piece in.
Thanks a ton to everyone at FA20Club for bearing with me and helping me figure out what the hell was going on! |

Good deal, FA20clubs service and support is easily the reason I'll be choosing them. IMO it is very rare to see a company help so many and get involved in the builds. Especially when it seems most companies go quite after they get the check in the mail. Before then they won't shut up.
Glad to hear you got it working. |
