Alternative floor mats
Anyone got any ideas for alternative floor mats besides Weather Tech and similar "utilitarian" floor mats? I'd love to have floor mats that will be more resistant to daily wear & tear, sand, or dirt but I personally hate the boring utilitarian look of the Weather Tech.
I came across some K2 Gear brand that look great in black carbon pattern look with the matching red stitching (probably custom made for K2 Gear by 3D), however, these are RHD only. I inquired to the U.S. distributor (U-Ace) for 3D Designs and they said they have nothing that looks like the K2 Gear black/red one for sale in LHD. The only comparable mats they have were the 3D Design in standard carpet type (vs. the rubber "Kagu"). Would anyone be interested in joining an inquiry pool to 3D/U-Ace to see if they can make something like this if a GB was created? ![]()

When I first read the poll, and it said something about "Carbon Look" I was just about to hit the back button as images of Pep-Boys ricer shit filled my head. Scrolled down and glad I didn't. I gotta say that looks really, really awesome. And not only that, they fit better than even items I've purchased from WeatherTech, a great manufacturer, in the past.
I would be ALL OVER these, provided they're not a ton more than what Husky or WeatherTech sell theirs for. |

Looks like other Scion 3D Maxpider Kagu mats are going for around $100-150 +/- for a set of 4 mats. A bit more pricey than the Weather Tech but is it worth the extra $$? I guess that depends on the car owner.

The fully form-fitted WeatherTechs are $120 -- and that's just for the front. Not that I would need the rears, but $150 for all 4 is perfectly reasonable. And these fit perfect, look a million times better than the WeatherTechs, and really suit the car. I'd be in for in the neighborhood of $150-200 for all 4, and $120-150 for the fronts. |

I wasn't aware the Weather Techs were that expensive for the fronts. The 3D ones currently out on the market appear to have an option of front mat only set or front & rear mat set so yes, it does sound more reasonable. They also occasionally have a rear cargo mats depending on the make/model.

One thing I would wonder about is how the weaves trap dirt. If it holds dirt like a regular carpet it wouldn't be worth it IMO.

They look like a sort of heavy nylon weave to me. And, if so, they'd be super easy to clean. Only worry, if anything, might be how slick they may get.

The KAGU material is more of a rubber type. The CLASSIC material is a traditional nylon type, I think.

Looks pretty functional. Good to see competition in the market. I have weathertechs and they did seem a bit expensive, but definitely worth it.
