Tricked by Toyota badges?

Had a fun experience yesterday and wanted to hear other re badging reactions. I went to a Nissan dealer because my wife is looking at a 370z and a salesman comes to talk to us. He saw my car and was so excited, he told me hes seen the brz and frs come in but this was the first 86 hes seen. He was asking when toyota released the 86 and was saying how awesome it was. He had a good laugh when I told him I just rebadged my frs :P

Anyone has similar re badge stories?

I have mine rebadged with Toyota badges and people always say "I know that's a Toyota but what kind of car is it?" Then I have to spend 10 minutes explaining why I have Toyota badges on a scion lol.

Not everyone is a car enthusiast that obsesses over this car in great detail like the rest of us.

My neighbor in my apartment complex drove by as I was unloading groceries (because grocery getter) and he rolls down the window:

Him: "Hey, I've been admiring your GTR! Its super nice, how much was it?"
Me: "Uhhh-"
Him: "Yea, I get it, I wouldn't want people to know how much I make either."
Me: "Well actually its not a GTR, its-"
Him: "Well yea the U.S version is the 'Skyline', duh. I hope I can afford one soon. Wanna sell me yours?"
Me: "Its actually a Toyota GT-86 badge, the U.S has the Scion FR-S and the Subaru BRZ, and the Toyota GT-86 is the model Toyota sells overseas."
Him: "What? Toyota sells GTR variants now?"
Me: "No no, its just a Toyota. And a Subaru. And a Scion, LOL."
Him: "Wow, I just saw the 'GT' badge and assumed GTR. How much was it?"
Me: "You can get a brand new one for under $30k."
Him: "Well it doesn't look that cheap! Thanks!"

Second time its happened. I shared the story of the cop that flagged me down and told dispatch that I had a Nissan GTR in another thread, lol.

From Top Gear: When you have to explain why your car is cool, it is not cool.

And I just spent the last twenty minutes trying to find the clip to no avail.

I believe that was them talking about either the Caterham 7 or the Porsche 911 GT3RS. They do have a point.

lol, i haven't gotten questioned very often, probably only twice when i took it in for oil changes at the Toyota/Scion dealership. De-badged mine to Subaru badges and left the FR-S badge on the back lol. It did confuse my dad when i first did it, had to explain the whole thing to him lol. He just barely figured out the other day after seeing a BRZ at a dealership that they share everything lol (I'd told him several times that they share everything, but he still thought they had different engines and transmissions....).

TRUST me... it wont work. ive had people call my car a celica GT, GTR, AND GTO (most likely because the 86 part has an O shape over it im guessing)
