I love this, the motions of the gears really makes you think how a few metal rods with teeth can accomplish

In all honesty, I prefer one that is built by robots. My Calculus professor in college told me a story about robots on the assembly line in the beginning (60's).

[somewhat long winded story]

Being a mathematician, he was hired to program the first robots on the assembly line (the Unimate, which was developed by Joseph Engleberger for General Motors). Originally, they were put into production to take over the dangerous tasks of inserting and removing sheet metal from the drop forges that were known to "squash" body parts that didn't get out of the way fast enough.

Eventually, The robots were fitted with welding attachments to weld the beds onto pick-up frames.

However, the trucks that had the frames welded on were having a problem with the beds breaking off. They thought it was a problem with the robots but then they discovered the real culprit. The engineers designed the weld path on the beds knowing that human welders would miss 10-15% of the welds. This tolerance was enough to ensure that the bed would stay attached. However, the robots hit 100% of the welds, every time. This resulted in a bed that was too rigidly mounted to the chassis and the motion and jarring of use broke the bed around the welds, but not the welds themselves.

So, provided that the initial programming is good, the robots will create as perfect of a fitment as the original engineering specifications allow. For a mass produced vehicle this means good quality at a reasonable price. If you want good quality but hand-made, then be prepared to shell out a lot for it.

And in the last bit of interconnectedness, I was the host of a television show called Robot Rivals about 10 years ago on the Do It Yourself Network and our trophy was named after Dr. Joseph F. Engelberger.

I put all of the episodes on Vimeo a few weeks ago since the show is no longer in syndication.

Robot Rivals Season 1
Robot Rivals Season 2

[/somewhat long winded story]

I can totally see that!

The group is Juno Reactor, and they are pretty awesome. They combine music from different cultures with electronica. FWIW, they contributed a lot of material to the Matrix films, which might connect you to what you're watching here.

I kind of know Juno Reactor, I had an album of theirs back in 97, I remember there being a song on there that used sounds from Akira. I liked them, didn't know they were still around.
