Rear bumper

ugggh, my rear bumper got hit. At first i thought it would be ok. But now it just bothers me.

So my question is should i get this fix? Anyone know a good shop to get it fix in the GTA?

Or if I were to order new bumper, how much would it cost me to repaint?

Don't fix the bumper. ABS never looks the same again when it's repaired. Buy a new bumper and get it painted $3-500 depending on the shop (+ the cost of the bumper obviously).

Got mine replaced for around $630. Just fixing similar damage as you have... Had I kept the original bumper it was going to be $500. As anyone can see it was better to go ahead and pay that extra.

Just curious where did you get your new bumper from? Dealership?

Yeah, just get a brand new bumper and paint it. Blending shouldn't be a problem if your car is still a few months old.

One (reputable) body shop near me quoted me $550 to repaint the whole bumper, claiming that it's very difficult to spot and blend pearl white tricoats, and that overtime it will show.

I was gonna go for it u til I realize that bumpers WILL always get scratched or damaged no matter how careful you are. And $550 is a lot of money.

So, I just bought these JDM bandaid stickers for $3, which will arrive tomorrow.

I just considered the scratch as a battle scar. In the future, I'll just have my FRS wrapped or repainted fully.

Yea, I have a SWP as well and was concerned about matching the colors. I was actually looking at these as another option as well.

Actually I just let my local repair shop get it.

I too was worried about my paint matching as the dark grey metallic has a LOT of metallic flakes in it. I honestly cannot tell that I had the bumper replaced, it matches perfectly! Mad props to Red Bank Body here in Chattanooga, TN on their work!

I'd ask some of your car enthusiast friends on where they've taken their cars and what they thought of the repairs to find the best shop closest to you. Even ask some of your non-enthusiast buddies to see if they recommend the same places. If they do then you'll most likely have a great idea of who may be your best choice.

Good luck!

I just got into an accident. Some one rear ended me. As a result now my rear turns doesn't close. Now I'll replacing the bumper come with the latch or is the latch part of the chassis. How much is a new bumper from Subaru Canada. And when you buy a bumper from them. Is it not painted from the dealer

Dealers get them in as-molded in black plastic.

There are many imperfections and scratches on them after being handled and shipped.

I have already replaced my front bumper (FR-S, Ultramarine/Galaxy Blue). Bumper cost $360 (employee discounted price) and the painting was about $400 (w/ discount). I did the swapping onto my car myself so that price does not include the labour of installation. The shop matched the bumper more to what the painted sheet-metal looks like - the color chip they had as reference matched up with the painted sheet-metal - the bumper from the factory was "off" - now the bumper matches better than before.

A good paint shop will be able to match the paint. Unfortunately they may have to do some blending with the rear quarters so it isn't as simple as grabbing the right colour bumper and slapping it on. Unless of course you are not too anal about perfect match.
