Installed Kicker 11PT8 and Review. PICS!!
Even though it was crazy hot for the past several days, I decided to install the subwoofer after work. I just wanted to install and get it over with.
I followed this DIY. http://frsdiy.blogspot.com/2012/11/diy-sub-woofer.html Thanks to Chris!! I chose this subwoofer because it is very compact and light. 14 lbs!! Its dimension is.. 11 1/4 H 16 15/16 W 6 5/8 D (Base) Top is only 4. Some basic specs. 8" subwoofer RMS 90W So basically it fits perfect in our small trunk. It also has 2 straps to hold the sub. Overall quality is very nice. The other thing I liked about this unit is that it is very easy to remove if you have to. The one connector has every required wires. Install was pretty straightforward. I just had hard time trying to feed the power wire through the firewall. Other than that, it was just taking time to hide the wires. For ground location, I followed the OEM Audio Plus DIY Video. I took off the rear passenger side panel and there was a good ground location. Below are some pictures. This is the bass control. I mounted it where I can easily access. The wire is hidden just like the power wire on the other side. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the rear side panel where the ground location is. ![]() Lastly, this is the one connector that has every wires. ![]() Also, Kicker sells this separately. It's the RCA quick harness. I bought it used from amazon for 6 bucks. Good deal for me. ![]() You can cut the regular RCA cable and connect it manually. Your choice. All the wires were long except for the remote wire. I used extra few feet of wire for that. Now the sound quality... I was amazed how this small 90W RMS makes so much bass. I'm not a bass-head, so compact sub works for me. I followed Kicker's guide to setup the bass. Turn up your stereo to 75% and turn the Gain knob until the sub distorts. Now this bass produces beautiful low-mid kicks to every type of music. Since it comes with bass control, you can adjust the bass whenever, depends on which type of music. I am very happy with this product and want to recommend this to other people who are looking for compact sub that won't break the bank and provides more than sufficient amount of bass. This thread is my first review/long post, so this is very unorganized compared to other people's thread. |
