Yahoo front page again! Best car for college grad

Did a quick search, couldn't see it.

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/5-cars-t...215100048.html

Best car for grads: Scion FR-S
Base price: $24,500

Jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru, the FR-S is an affordable rear-wheel-drive sports car added to Scion's lineup for 2013.

"The FR-S is a real 'back-to-basics' sports car in the vein of the 1970s Datsun 240Z or the [1980s] first-generation azda RX-7," DiPietro says. "It's lightweight, well balanced, responsive and very rewarding to drive."

The model — which 15.2% of Edmunds' readers chose as the best 2013 for college grad — starts at less than $25,000, but boasts a 200-horsepower four-cylinder "boxer" engine, a rear-wheel-drive system and a race-car-like dashboard.

"Personally, I think very highly of the car," DiPietro says.

The MSRP is wrong. The car cost $25,255.

i saw it. People didn't leave any negative comments on it except that the people that do come out of college are broke. Normally yahoo catches heat when they post stuff about the kardashians lol

There is so much misinformation on the Internet that I stop reading when it becomes apparent the journalist sucks. They lost me at "The 140 horse power si". Seriously?

I don't think the people that right this are car journalists at all, they just copy down all the recent cars that got the gear-heads like us buzzing. Then they Google the rest to fill in the blanks. I guarantee I have more money now than I will when I get to college or out of college simply because of saving up and no stupid student loans or anything.

They should append the article, and say "best car for grads who landed a decent job out of college"... financing a car sub-30k is pretty manageable, especially with decent mileage.

The price mentioned is without delivery, which varies by area and therefore pointless to include. It's always done like this, even in the actual FR-S commercial.

Although I dont agree with the article, why would the average new college grad buy a new vehicle right away..Most college grads still get entry level positions and have to pay back school loans

While I bought my first brand new car 2 weeks out of college, I agree with CAMBAM_6. I am fortunate enough to have come out of my undergraduate degree with zero debt, in a high paying field. However many people I know right out of school have tens of thousands or even six figures of debt, and in fields that do not exactly pay well.

But you worked hard, so you should "reward" yourself for all your hard work yes? :-p

I would hope anyone with serious student loans would focus on those, not a new car.

I agree 100% and I was in the exact same position as you. No school loans, no debt, high paying entry level position - Need dat FRS! Although I started with a 2012 TC because they didn't have any FRSs at the dealership. Bumped up to an FRS a year later.

Article title should have been: "Trust Fund Babies, What Car You Should Beg Your Parents For"

I realize the irony that I'm a 24 year old recent college graduate, who drives an FR-S, but still. It was an irresponsible decision, but I can live with it.
