You have just increased the NVH. Noise, vibration and harshness by putting stiffer bushings in. Toyota knew what they were doing when they designed it. The price we pay for performance is living with it.

I can totally live with it, but wondering if I did something wrong on the install. I know its stiffer bushing, but I don't its related to gear whining?

The transmission was probably always making that noise. You can just hear it now after the bushing install. Mine is also noisy after the Whiteline transmission bushing, diff bushings, and subframe bushings have been installed.

Unlike a lot of FWD cars which use cables and a remote shifter assembly, most RWD cars with engine mounted transmissions (as opposed to a rear transaxle), have solid linkages between the shifter and transmission. This will convey more gear noise to the handle, and therefore the cabin, if the vibrations aren't absorbed by some other medium (the soft bushings).

mine does the same. it's actually a pretty great sound if you can appreciate racecar

when you install that bushing you can hear everything your tranny is doing. I think that's a plus for me.

No, mine does it and many, many others have mentioned it as well. I've been living with it for about 3k miles now and don't notice it at all any more
