From Rev Works UEL to HKS EL
So decided to switch from rev works uel to the hks el uncatted. Set up: Perrin over pipe, motiv catless front pipe, unresonated 2.5 Perrin cat back.
Sending the rev works back to rev works for warranty work. While down there, installed perrin tranny spt and rear shifter kit. No motors mounts at this time. Too much work.

Love the rev works, but I noticed exhaust leak soon after installing, just thought maybe something came loose or something. But went in to get a tune, and while on lift, the tuner noticed crack around collector...
Rev Works are standing behind their work though. They are taking great care of the issue. This setup is pretty loud...much louder than when I was same set up but with the UEL.

Both are of great quality. Do love the fact that rev works are made in the USA.
This set up is ridiculously loud. I'll be putting on resonated mid pipe here soon to see how that sounds and then catted FP after that. I'll try to catch sounds with each set up for yall interested.

Very Raspy...some people like it. Again, videos don't do justice. I'll be changing out unresonated mid-pipe to resonated mid-pipe here in a few. Then test out sound, then install catted front pipe, and test that sound, then back to catless for tune/dyno calibrate. Here is video of cold start/idle & rev to limiter. Did you notice much difference to the torque curve? And are you tuned or OEM tune?

I had been suspecting this after listening to videos and reviews of another EL header (P&L)... That is, EL headers are typically louder and raspier than UEL headers for this car. Your HKS header sounds pretty gnarly loud (I do like the mean streak sound, but my family would hate it) with a typically pretty reasonably quiet catback exhaust (perrin).
Thanks for posting the vid. It sounds pretty realistic to me - and I bet that can get loud in the cabin... |
