Has anyone noticed that their key is super hot when the pull it out of the ignition after driving? A couple times now I have just about burned my fingers on my key putting it in my pocket.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Have your dealer change the keyfob oil, it happens from time to time.

Key fob oil is lifetime fill...

No, I have not had anything close to that being a problem.

Pull your codes. You probably have P8024 (fob coolant reservoir low). The reservoir is in the second trunk, adjacent to the serving trays and canoe.

Sounds like someone may have hot-wired your car at one point and left the wires exposed near the ignition lock.

You might need to run some coolant in there to cool down those hot wires.

Check for a short... and check your shorts for keyholes.

Yes, what has the weather been like in southern NM? I can only imagine it's been warm. It gets pretty hot here in southern AL. The dealership found nothing wrong and said it was probably just the heat. I had no issues in the cooler months.

Is it AT? If yes, it's because the key connect the paddle shifters to the electronics. Completely normal.

If it's MT, the key can get got from slipping the clutch. The heat travels up the clutch master cylinder. This intense burning heat then warms up steering column and subsequently your keys. After too much clutch wear the key will stop working. It's a feature, to both burn your fingers, to let you know you're doing it wrong. And once the key stops working, the dealer can easily source the problem to your crappy shifting technique and void your warranty after you tow your car for service.

Im having a hard time separating the trolls from the helpful advice. Going to ask the dealer next time I bring it in I guess. Pretty sure Gaffigan's advice was the best I got.

It's fine. Every car I've driven for extended amounts of time does it, Honda, Acura, Nissan, Toyota, Chevy, Ford etc. etc.
