Yokohama S-Drive? Advan Neova?

I recently ordered some 18x8 wheels for my car, and I wanted to get some opinions from the crowd on tire choice. I'm aiming for 225/40s to keep the contact patch more or less the same. and to prevent the inside from rubbing.

I wanted to ask user opinions on the Yokohama S-Drive and the Advan Neova AD08. I only need summer tires since there is barely any rain in Lima (I think 1 mm per "downpour" is the worse we do)

This is my weekend car, I do spirited driving, and I hope to start on autocross (My first event is on the 20th!)

While I do know the Advan Neova is better suited for autocross, it is also much more expensive (60% more) to buy, and much more expensive to maintain (treadwear rating of 300 vs 180). Money which I could also spend on the fund for future car stuff.

About the driving dynamics of the car? this car is praised for being easy to control, with grippier tires like the advan neova, there will be more grip, but when you lose it, will it be harder to catch? If this is so, maybe the S-Drive be easier for an amateur like me?

I do know that the grippier Advan Neova would allow considerable more grip in cornering and braking. How much "noticeable" improvement on autocross would an amateur get?

The AD08 is a far grippier tire than the S-Drive. If you're looking for a sticky tire, this is a good choice. Others to consider are the Dunlop Direzza ZII, Bridgestone RE-11, and Hankook R-S3.

Size wise, the AD08s and the other tires I mentioned tend to run large. So a 225 on an 8" wheel won't look stretched. But the size you chose is slightly taller than stock, so you'll be travelling 1mph faster than your speedo says.

BFG Rival, Dunlop ZII and Hankook RS3 are the fast tires. The AD08 is pretty good as well, and sounds to be nicer as a daily driver tires.

How often do you plan on autocrossing?

Don't get the S-Drives, they're alright but you can get a much more performance oriented tire for the money. Others have suggest good alternatives.

I would consider the Bridgestone RE-11 as most similar to the neovas and at a better cost

Did some research on S.Drives and Neovas, same size too. Not so good reviews on the S.Drives plus it's a relatively old design.

AD08s are far superior and in the top 5 tires that aren't racing compound tires. Go for it.
