KartBoy crank pulley Issues

Ive thrown alot of parts at my FR-S in the last few weeks and this one part is my only hicup. Looks, its is what I want, weight=well theres no weight to it! I replaced the perrin crank pulley with this kartboy one and for the love of me I cant figure out how to get the belt whine to go away during acceleration(idle is fine). Only way to make it go away is to re'install the stock or perrin one. Ive flipped belt direction, I have re'installed three times and also purchased a different belt. Pulley has no wobble, runs true to the idlers and smooth. Could it be the coating on the pulley? After 3000rpms it goes away, but anything below that it sounds like a alternator whine. Idk hate to make a coaster out of it.....

This is not directly related to the Kartboy pulley, but have you tried something like this:

Hi Area51
Sorry i havent been on the forums as much as i'd wish these past weeks. Been stupid busy around the shop. Honestly thats a first i've heard about a whine. i agree. it might be some funk on the belt making the noise. I have around 300+ pulleys sold and have not had anyone come back. Let us know what we can do for you.

Tom

My best advice? Throw an innovate kit on there. Then there will be a bitchin whine like my car has.

You can always email me if you have any questions.

I have the kart boy pulley as well and have been experiencing the whine since I installed it. It's not as noticeable with my exhaust but I still hear it. Could it have something to do with it's closed design as opposed to others with cut outs in the middle?

Please make sure your belts are installed correctly. A misaligned belt can cause a whine to occur

Well the kart boy pulley is not quite as wide as the stock pulley and it also does not have a lip on the outer edge. The pulley hangs off slightly but does not seen to be misaligned in the least. Could be the cause of it?

Grooves look deeper on the kart boy to the naked eye, I tried another v belt no luck, tried a gator back belt bc I have had this issue before with vortech sc pulleys/vendors sc pulleys and the low rpm whine is gone. The ribs on a gator back belt are shollower/ cross hatched.
