This week's show has the Hamster testing it against the 2 other leading superminis (Peugeot 208 and Renault Clio) and it wiped the floor with them. Clarkson said it was the most enjoyable car he'd driven in a long time - I wonder if that comment encompasses the GT86 he chose as car of the year last year? Love to see a faceoff between these 2 on the show (or elsewhere - maybe with the new GTI with LSD thrown in). The FiST seems to be earning more consistent plaudits in its early reviews than the twins did - although it may be being judged by a slightly different yardstick.

EVO is such an outlier with their reviews of the twins, I'd take anything that guy had to say with a big chunk'o salt.

Just watched it again - guy needs a wardrobe consultant, a dietitian, and a trainer stat. He makes the same complaint about both cars - not enough grip out of the corners and can't get the power down soon enough. Clearly jaded from driving too many supercars. He also contradicts himself within a couple of minutes: at first the 86's oversteer is "easy to handle", no sweat, then he's talking about how you really have to stay alert or it will catch you out since there's so much of it. GT86 has too much oversteer, FiST is more neutral - he's really making a good case for the the BRZ here lol. Doesn't say the GT86 is more fun, just that it's hard to beat in that department. Pretty wishy-washy conclusion.

The GT86 was faster than all three of the hot hatches around the Top Gear test track.
