I'm glad its not a direct conversion to US dollars for cars! As of this posting that would be (USD):

$39690 base
$41818 Leather seats
$43870 automatic+leather

But everyone can calm down: a base WRX STI costs 46,500 Euro in Germany. So a fully tricked out GT86 (which is being sold as a semi-luxury GT car in Europe, not the basic sports car the FR-S is being marketed as here) is still cheaper than that.

No need to calm down, that's why I lead my note with

"I'm glad its not a direct conversion to US dollars for cars!"

I knew it was an exercise in futility, but thought it was mildly amusing.

Anyone is Europe have any other cars that we can compare price w? So we (in US) have a somewhat of idea on price tag we're seeing. Cuz I'm not sure that's cheap or expensive

Anyway, we do never have "markups" and usually pay less then the "list price", paying 10-20% less is not uncommon.

Compared to the Impreza:

Basic - 22,800
Comfort - 24,600
Sport - 26,600

Dividing those prices out in comparison to us prices of equivalent trims of the Impreza you're looking at the US prices being approximately 76% of the German prices.

Compared to the Outback:

2.5i Basic - 38,700
2.5i Comfort with navi and stick shift - 43,700
2.5i Comfort with navi and auto - 45,700
3.6 Exclusive with navi and auto - 50,700

You're looking at American equivalents being between 60-76% the German prices. Which theoretically is going to put the basic BRZ at 19-23k

Hyundai Gen Coupe V6 - 34.990€ (+46.000$)
Mazda MX-5 (u calls Miata?) 2.0l - 28.690€ (37.900$)
Nissan 370Z - 38.750€ (51.200$)
All BASIC!
Fuel 1,69€/liter (2,2457$/liter = 8,5$/gallone (right?))

@aeon
the price sounds fair. less then a good scirocco 2.0l, Gen Coupe and "Premium Coupes".

Can't compare to VW cars since there's no import tax for those in Germany
I suspect that means it'll be about the cost of a GTI over here. 23-24k?

if the basic price is just under 30k for the germans then im not very optimistic for the dutch pricing

dutch cars are usually 15 to 20% more expensive than they are in germany

wich means it will start from 35k onward here in holland if we are lucky

and i can't afford that

oh btw gas prices are 1.80 euro per litre here in holland

Dutch state takes a fixed % of the price and after that adds taxes it's ridiculous
