Unhappy Pre-Order Disappointment woes

As many of you may or may not be aware I am currently in Afghanistan on deployment so my trying to get an order in is difficult. Just to my dismay after speaking with the local dealer W&L in PA and getting everything settled. The day of the pre-order I get the email from the dealer asking if I was still going to place the order with the added note that because of the "rarity" of the vehicle it will be above sticker price a little bit. They never gave an exact amount.

So, to my dismay I politely informed them I would be taking my business elsewhere because I am not interested in paying above MSRP for the BRZ. If anyone knows if any of the other PA dealerships have cars allotted that are not ordered already please let me know so that I can try to get things squared away for when I return to the states in middle-late April. Was debating on having this post go into the black listed dealer area but up to March 1st order day, they were very helpful and also kept in contact with me via email out here to update me on things. I now get to hope that I might be lucky and find another dealer that has them or maybe be lucky to walk onto a lot around may and find a dealership that has a Black Limited BRZ on the lot.

Subaruwrxfan was working with a very good dealer in PA, I'm sure he'll see this and reply. Good luck Draco!

I'll PM him about this thread for you.

Edit: I PM him Hope he gets back to you soon.

i was in a similar situation. the dealer i placed my pre-order and said that they would most likely sell above msrp. luckily for me, i was i contact with another subaru dealer and the sales person gave me his word that their dealer only sells at msrp. i told the original dealer this and instantly changed his mind about marking up the brz for me and told me that he will sell it at msrp.

i would shop around and see what the other dealers say, or just tell your dealer that you found another place that would sell at msrp.

I am going to do my best, it is just hard being out here and trying to communicate with the states, due to a 9 hour time difference, and it seems like it takes forever to get email replies. I will keep working on it, as long as they get the BRZ in around early May I should be good, I would like to support my local dealerships than having to wait and buy one in TX.

Hey man, yeah thanks to Zaku for the heads up. Looks like your NE PA, Pittsburgh is SW, lol but if you're willing to drive 6 hours to get the car, #1 Cochran Subaru in Monroeville treated me very well today, they made it very clear that they are only going to charge MSRP, they never do mark-ups, but they also stressed that there will be absolutely no discounts either, but that's all I wanted was sticker price. Their title and licensing fees are $240 total, that includes a new license plate, etc. No BS "document fees" here. They are getting 7 cars this year, I am #2 and I just ordered today. If you need anymore info, let me know.

Thanks for the heads up. Pittsburg is not that far of a drive about 4 hours for me roughly. I would not mind the drive. I am not concerned with discounts either though I might try to get the military one but other than that my only thing is I am trying to hope that I can get the car before I leave for tx. If you can get any other info from that dealer let me know, if you can contact them and let them know my situation that would be awesome! I am able to place a deposit if they will require it. I guess my biggest concern is the limited time frame I have to get the car or at least I should say pick it up when the dealer gets it in.

unfortunately there are no exact dates on when the BRZ will arrive at dealerships. it could be as early as may or as late as august.

I understand that, from what W&L told me they said orders usually would take 6-8 weeks but things have been odd so they could not say for certain but based on that time frame if it would take 6-8 weeks I would be in luck. I am almost shocked that with all the orders being place they have not been given a arrival or even and estimated arrival date for the dealers. Between that and pricing, though pricing I am not too concerned with as long as it stays around 27-28K.

Yeah, they made it clear no discounts (they even underlined it twice! lol), so I doubt they'd give you a military discount, as for delivery time frame, I heard a week or two ago that dealers will get 1-2 cars a month, and with this dealership only getting 7 between May and November, that number sounds about right to me. Assuming you get on the list at #3, I'm guessing that would put you somewhere in June, but it's still way to early to say anything with confidence. They require a 500 dollar deposit which is fully refundable. If you are still interested, I can send you my sales associate's email so you can get in contact with her directly. Just let me know.

I will have to see about that, due to the limited time I have I would say May 15th or 16th would be the latest I would be able to pick up the order at the dealership. I might try to bide my time and wait for pricing and maybe when they have a better idea of when they will get them in before I place an order unless I could find a dealer that I was either #1 or #2 with a decent number allotted that would ensure I would be able to get the first ones they get in. Thanks everyone for the help with locating dealers, you guys/gals are awesome!

Got it, approx a 2 hour drive but would be worth it, do you know off hand how many they are alloted? It would help with knowing how many they will get in at the start.

Hate to tell you but depending on the dealership and the model you like you might not see it in May. Basically the cars will arrive when they arrive. Any time May/June to Nov for the first allocation. Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up I would think they should get some in within the first half of May as part of the initial allottment that would be either based on the orders in already or what they can pick from. I will just have to wait and see, though the longer I wait the longer it would take for the car to arrive at the dealer. I will keep my head up and hope that I can be lucky and get one within my window of time. At least there does not seem to be a massive interest like the larger states for the car. Most dealers in the area seem to only have at the most 3 pre ordered with some only having 1 or 2.
