Any News on 2014 FRS?
Some of you may have caught my other thread (MR2 turbo guy getting an FRS) and I'm looking to get an FRS pretty soon.
However, something crossed my mind. Seeing that it's late in the production run of the 2013 models and they're phasing into 2014 soon, should I just be patient and wait for the 2014's? They're due to be out in september, right? I really don't want to wait as I need a new DD kind of soon. But I will certainly wait if they are going to be a bit better than the 2013s. This gets me to my next question, does anybody have the inside scoop on the updates (if any) the 2014 models will have over the 2013s? I tried searching to no available information (obviously since they are still trying to get rid of the rest of the 2013 cars). If they're going to be significant, I will wait. So anybody have any 2014 FRS info? Please share if you do. |

New standard touchscreen head unit is the only big change for the FRS confirmed so far.
Although there are some rumblings that a factory alarm and foglights will finally be available options. |

I've read that the new 2014's will get a touch screen deck. Also read that it might have navigation but i'm unsure as to whether it will be available on Canadian Models.
Rumored release date is September with pre-orders starting in August. Not 100% on this information but i'm sure others will chime in. I'm in the same position as you currently right now. Might as well wait it out for the 2014's. However, the financing/ lease rate has dropped by 1% online so a nice way to save some coin. |

The current financing rate is what's got me hooked and really pushing me to get one soon.
I really don't care about available options. The Ultramarine FRS that I'm keen on ordering will come bare. I guess what I'm trying to ask is if there will be new standard equipment on 2014 models (like an armrest, etc) that the 2013 models didn't get. I absolutely do not care for add-on options like foglights, stereo, nav, or touch screen. If it's just going to be more options, or a flashy new touch screen, than I will go ahead with a 2013 model. |

Also, do you guys think the new standard equipment on 2014 models will drive up MSRP? ...because I can't see Toyobaru throwing in a new flashy touchscreen while keeping the price the same.

Pretty sure it'll jump a little bit. As soon as I saw that I was about to grab a 2013 BRZ, but my dad has a friend that works at Toyota and found a series 10 coming in for me.

if you dont care about any "flashy" thing (im assuming creature comforts) then just grab the 2013
I don't imagine any spec changes coming for 2014

Those standard items will almost certainly result in a higher base price. You want to save money, buy now. If you are interested in some things you may or may not use and paying more money then wait.

A price increase is usually the norm with a new MY. I'm sure if anything new and improved were in the 2014's, such as the radio is... These forums would already be in the know..

Is the new head unit pretty much the same thing as you are getting in some of the other toyotas now? I'm not really a fan since I like the buttons better so I don't have to look at my radio to toggle for a new station or song.

A small price bump is almost guaranteed.. There was a $500 price bump in the USA for the 2013 FR-S in the middle of the year around Dec 2012/Jan2013 (no changes to the car). If they add stuff... it'll probably be slightly more $$

I've found touchscreens in most cars just suck.
