What helmet do you fancy? and why? :)
I chose the Schuberth SF1. Why? because it saved Felipe Massa's life (talk about real world R&D, look up Massa Spring accident), Schumacher apparently paid the helmet company who sponsored him a penalty/fee each time he wore his Schuberth SF1 instead! it's Danica Patrick's helmet, and other professionals.
oh, and it looks "natural" and "beautiful" to boot! ![]() edit: massa's accident in 2009 was with the previous generation version of this helmet which had 16 layers of carbon fiber. this one has 18 layers, and extra reinforcement in the forehead area (I think they call it a HANS strip I will edit when I confirm). the visor on the SF1 is also bullet proof lol....22 caliber ![]() edit 2: link [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgZf_x_klgg"]98% probability I will order the black schuberth sf1...NOT! - YouTube[/ame]

![]() they get better with time...best to keep up, especially on safety equipment. im just a paranoid guy that's all lol. the extreme example would be the person still using the leather cap from the early 1900's....figure 2014 has more safety features.

I know that Arai and Shoei are very respected in the motorcycle community. I imagine their quality is the same no matter what the intended purpose is.

Arai carbon f1 was on my list. Apparently arai has a unique weight distribution on the helmet. Balanced.

I know motorcycle and car helmets differ. I just picked up a Shoei RF1100 to wear on my bike, would be this be ok to wear to a track event, or autox?

Scorpion has a great inexpensive line. I have two for my street bike and I get tons of compliments.

Yes to both. I used an HJC CF helmet about 10 years ago for those events. Great helmet, light, well ventilated, large eyeport, still have it here with SCCA stickers intact. Think I'll use it for the rest of this year's auto-x events before it expires next year.

Currently using a fairly basic Bell Sport. Entry level SA2010 with HANS provisions. It is pretty comfortable and light. Of course, I have been eyeing the carbon helmets.
