Two questions

1. Is the crickets problem actually fixed?

I just got it and i was considering taking it in to the dealership but it seems like some people had bad results. Do dealers know how to actually fix it now or is it just an ongoing problem??

edit for clarity: I know they'll replace the HPFP but does the new HPFP actually solve the issue or does it return anyways?

and

2. Anyone know where I can find a labeled diagram of the engine? I've been able to figure out what a few things are but I'd really love a proper diagram. I'm kind of new to an engine bay.

Sorry if these questions are stupid, I tried to search but I'm feeling pretty braindead right meow. Been studying an unbelievable amount lately.

Cheers

Alex

Can't speak to 1., but for 2., search the forums for the BRZ service manual - that's got a full labelling of all the car's bits, and of course it's the same inside for the FR-S vs the BRZ.

To my knowledge the crickets are not fixed. What they have done is replaced the pump with another of the same pump. I have heard a different pump and part number are in the works.

From what I read, if you use BP or Shell 93 octane, then you won't have the crickets. I've been doing that, and I dont hear anything

False Statement. I have 1,400 miles currently on my '13 FRS have ONLY used BP 93 w/ INVIGORATE since I purchased the vehicle w/ under 10 miles & I have crickets

Let me rephrase. You shouldn't have crickets. I've been running the Shell/BP 93 octance for about 750 miles and I have not had the crickets.
Sorry about your luck.

OP, give it a try, maybe you'll be lucky.

I don't have crickets but I have less than 1000 miles and lots of people seem to get them later down the road. Hopefully there will be a true fix sometime this year.

Crickets come and go. Seems worse when it warms up outside but not consistent.

No cricket fix that I know of. The weird thing is though, I had crickets within the first 100 miles of the car. I'm now at 7K miles, and I never hear the crickets anymore - I first noticed the crickets missing at around 5k miles so I don't really know when it's gone. It never really bothered in the first place as my music is usually too loud to hear it. Now, even with the stereo off, I hear nothing - tried popping the hood and there is nothing except for the normal clacking of the boxer engine.

No change in the gas - I still get it at the same place. 91 at either the Chevron or Shell near my house, whichever is cheaper at the time.

My crickets were very loud. Subaru replaced my pump 1000 miles ago, they came back after about 600 miles, but they aren't as loud—so I am okay with it.

I think if people are chiming in with "no crickets here" they should be including the fuel they're using.

It seems that running 93 or 94 octane will often solve the cricket noise temporarily. It would be interesting to know if all the people reporting that they don't have the problem are running higher grades of premium fuel (most 93 - 94 octane has ZERO ethanol in it).
