because racegas

so i was boosting 9ish psi on normal pump gas and car was running great, i just received my sir500 injectors and visconti290 fuelpump that i will be installing this week-end. it is getting tuned normally with the local pump gas like the last tune but i should be able to boost some more. im wondering, if empty the tank and put in some good old vp110 that i got here for the rally car, will i make more power out of the box, can i just put the gas in and the car will make up for it, i know i can get an even better tune for it and make more power, but the question is, without the tune for racegas, will it work and will i make couple more ponies or not?

eventually, i ll get another tune just for racegas, but im not there just yet..

Not sure how the game changes being turbo, but N/A test had shown not much gain for going with race gas. I believe Visconti had tried doing it.

well race gas won't help at all , maybe a bit with cooling. its the same thing with e85 the only reason it shows good numbers because of the ability to run more psi hence it decreases detonation. I'm not a fuel expert like a few guys might show up and talk about bellow me but i know you can make similar if not more power on a less octane gas ( if you run the same psi) because it has to do with timing and the bang ( less octane burns hotter)

to sum it up, if you tune your car on 110( crazy amount of boost) you obviously would yield more power, but running it with a similar tune is just..hmm bleh i guess ?

with race gas you should be able to run more timing or a extra pound of boot or two. The big bonus for race gas is increase detonation resistance.

If its a tune for 91 octane you need to run 91 octane. 110 octane is leaded. If you run 100 octane it will run more timing and more power, but you should run what you are always going to run normally.

Without a tune for 110 it likely won't run very well. You could mix some into your other gas for some detonation resistance though.

Just made some research and the elf 105 or vp110 will eat the fuel lines, not sure anymore lol

my gti wanted to boost so much faster I wonder if our cars will compensate and adjust I never logged my gti on race fuel but it felt like it adjusted timing with the higher octane.

It'll leave white residue on your tailpipe and smell a little better but that's about it!

Unfortunately there is no octane sensor and thus the ecu will not compensate.

Gotta get a tune to make more power or turn up your boost. I still woulnt do this without a tuner making sure things ar looking safe.

Actually, it will compensate the timing up to the point of full advance (IAM 1.0). depending on the tuner and tune that may get you nothing or it may get your 1 or 2 degrees of advance.

Just dumping it in with no tune i would expect to see a loss of power due to burn rate (needs a little more timing, not just can take more) but that would be ballanced out by the additional degree or so of advance that would get thrown in by the ecu.

If it's leaded it will kill your 02 sensors over time.

With a tune, more boost, more timing, leaner mixture, win win win

This. If you throw in some race gas you could up your boost and do some datalogs and keep throwing more boost at your current tune as long as you aren't knocking and your AFR is good. The two ways to make more power are more boost or more timing. Running more octane allows you to turn up one or both of those things. Since you can't turn up the timing on your tune, you can turn up the boost.
