Tein Street Flex assistance
So I was considering going with some Koni's, RCEs, tophats and such but after some research and many many PMs with Davis from CSG (the guy is more patient than I can express, anyone looking for anything, hes your guy), and it seems I can get some Tein Street Flex for about the same price as the other setup, and perform better on both the street and track (plan on doing a few auto cross and track days here and there). Anyone who have these able to comment? Found 1 review but it was just a quick passthrough initial impression in the cold. Will be on stock wheels and tires for the time being. Had to make a choice on what to do, and since I couldnt decide 100% on wheels I just went with a full Nameless exhaust with high flow cat, and will get suspension. Or if anyone has any other suggestions im fully open to them. The Teins are about 1600 shipped. Dont mind spending a tiny bit more, but wont go over 2000. Just want the best bang for the buck for spirited driving and some light autocross and track fun, without having to visit a chiropractor after getting out of it.

I held off on these since there weren't any consumer reviews, but I'd like to know also so I can pull the trigger soon.

I have the monoflex. I can say their quality is good, but I can't speak to how the street flex rides or performs since I've never tried them

I am running the flex on track with cusco f/r sway bar and I am happy with the performance relative to the price. It's nice that the coilovers come with front camber plates which has a pretty good range of adjustment.

kvnchu, when you had the teins fitted was it at the same time as the sway bar? Or did you drive it with teins then have the sway bar fitted? I have the teins but havent changed the sway bars yet. Seemed stiff enough as is.

the sway bars were fitted with the coilovers at the same time. perhaps that is enough. I have the fronts maxed out at the moment but a little more dampening would be nice.

I have a couple guys with them on 2012/13 STI's and they love them. Softer in a good way, from the original Flex model.

I had Tein Flex on my WRX and replaced it with Konis and coilover sleeves with custom springs. Much, much happier.

![]() *edit* I will say I'm far more willing to support a product when the manufacturer is willing to work with us. Additionally, the guy at Tein USA that does the valving on SRCs happens to be a track regular, and will work with individual consumers. He's not just some engineer that does math and says "build this". He understands the actual application of the product he builds, and personally performs testing. We're continuing to develop our SRC valving, and hope to have a custom offering in the future. On the other extreme, KW pretty much blew us off cuz we're a small shop. They don't even respond to our e-mails, let alone return a single call. When was the last time you saw ANY manufacturer out at the track, doing real world testing, and supporting the enthusiasts? "Street performance" is a marketing term thrown around with no real definition. You want more grip on the street? Throw on stickier tires. You're never realistically going to drive hard enough on the street for the suspension to really matter THAT much. If you are, you're a wreck waiting to happen. There is no shock that can maximize grip on the street under any condition. Some roads are super smooth, while others might as well be a gravel road. Have we tested the Street Flex on the track? Yes. Was it something to write about? No. Have we tested other setups on track? Yes. Were any of them anything to write about? No. Last edited by CSG Mike; 05-23-2013 at 04:28 PM. |
