whistle noise in 6th? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hey guys, specifically MT owners. Do you guys hear a whistle sound whenever you step on your gas pedal while in 6th going around 120 km/h and up? Seems to be more apparent as you go faster, doesn't seem to be there in 5th. Happen to notice this since I went on a long trip never noticed before....

Look in your rear view mirror - at those speeds you will find the whistle is accompanied by flashing red and blue lights

Ehh 120 km is still under the speed limit on the interstate lol. You may be hearing suction from the intake or some sort of intake leak. Not sure but I subd...

100km/h speed limit on all major highways in Ontario, sucks, 80km/h on secondary highways. I think I am hearing the same thing as you. I can reproduce it on the highway. I have a feeling it has something to do with the sound tube while under vacuum. I might do some testing with the sound tube disconnected and see if it goes away, if it does I'll reconnect it and see if it returns.

haha I admit I was having an enjoyable drive, besides there are people ahead of me if anything popos should go for them, I'm just following traffic

. If anyone ever found out what's causing the sound please give me a shout

I'm pretty sure it's just the intake sound and the snorkel - nothing to be worried about because I can replicate the sound on my car too

Hhhhmm don't remember it but I usually have music playing....

I'll try it out tomorrow since I deleted the sound generator mess.

I've got very noticeable 6th gear accel noise at 70kph (45mph), but no whistling noise I've heard.

why are you accelerating in 6th gear at 45mph??? try 3rd or 4th lol

My car started whistling at 80 mph and up. Took it to the dealer and insisted it was the fuel pump. They reluctantly replaced it. Now it, sometimes, starts whistling at 63 mph and up.

I don't hear a whistle but there is a faint whine.

I just pretend its my invisible supercharger.
