Best Boost, A/F, and Oil Temp Gauges

I'm new to FI, so I'm shopping around for some of these gauges. I see cheap ones and I see very expensive one. What are your suggestions for the best gauges to get?
Are they all pretty much the same?

People on the forums tend to like the AEM fail safe which comes with both af and boost. I'd personally get that one and then either get the rest aem or look for a proper company ( I personally used defi and they look the best but are very expensive )

Functionality wise cheap and expensive gauges don't differ massively expect the fact a decent normal gauge is going to last longer and wouldn't fail when you need it !

AEM and Defi are going to get the most love. I have never had issues with Autometer gaues in the past and they give you lots of options as far as the look you want. They are not all the same though. The first thing you need to decide is if you want mechanical or electrical. The AEM Boost gauge is electrical in that you don't have to run a vacuum line up to the back of the gauge it uses a sensor in the engine bay and wires to get the signal to the gauge. The AEM Failsafe boost portion is mechanical and the boost sensor is in the back of the gauge so you have to supply a vacuum line to the back of the gauge.

The AEM gauges are very popular. Innovate Motorsports has some nice ones too. Defi's are sweet, but pricey and they do not have a wideband. Avoid the cheap Prosport etc brands, they are inaccurate and the senders have a high failure rate. You will just end up buying gauges twice.

The AEM wideband/Boost failsafe is cool, I just wish it was easier to toggle between showing wideband or boost. It is annoying to have to connect with laptop to change it. In my cases we just end up installing a separate boost gauge.

How do you define 'best'? Best accuracy, best looks, best reliability, best for getting forum kudos points?

I personally find analogue gauges considerably easier to read quickly than digital. It also gives you a better idea of transient behaviour.

Stack make a bunch of decent gauges. This would be my choice as they've been in the game a very long time at various levels of motorsport and OEM stuff (e.g. the original Lotus Elise came with a Stack dash).

This gauge comes with integration to the OBD2 port so all the major factory sensors can be monitored. Here are some of the solid features of the gauge:

  • READ/CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC CODES
  • PERFORMANCE TIMERS 0-60 60-120 ETC
  • BOOST/VACUUM READINGS
  • MAJOR SENSOR READINGS: COOLANT, AIR TEMPS, ETC
  • X3 ANALOG INPUTS FOR EXTERNAL SENSORS: OIL PRESSURE OR 0-5V
  • REALTIME DATASTREAMING
  • SHIFT LIGHT
  • BOOST WARNING(EXCEEDING MAX BOOST)

We do have the final Beta unit en route for final testing but as it is right now these gauges will be available for sale on July first. We just wanted to keep you guys aware of what we have coming down the pipeline. Retail price will be $380.00 including the vent. Initially we intend to offer a discounted price to kick off sales and will most like be offering a Group Buy when the release date comes closer.

The cheap gauges use cheap quality "sender" units I.E. the boost reading unit, or oil pressure unit. I have never seen a Chinese made wideband but I am sure they exist.

The more expensive brands such as Defi, Stack, AEM, Greddy etc use higher quality, more accurate, more durable components.
