Dylan's FRS AutoX RTR Build

Well I figured I would make this despite not having a lot done yet (i suppose that is the point in a "build thread" right?)

Anyways, car is a 2013 FR-S in Raven and I love the look of black but already am starting to lose hair from worrying about it.

My autocross history: is that I start in 2005 in the Colorado Region in a 1996 Civic DX in STS. That can then moved to FSP, then SM (w/ turbo and engine swap), and finally SMF before I sold it a couple years ago. When I sold it I moved to Wichita from Colorado to work at Cessna and bought an '89 Civic Si prepped for STC. Raced that for a little over a year but driving it to and from events was terrible and I missed having a fun car for the weekend. So, sold it and bought my FR-S which I now use for racing and daily drive. I have race RWD cars in the past but not for more than one event so this is my first real experience with racing a RWD car consistently.

Currents Mods:
OEM Crash Bolts
215/45-17 Hankook RS3s (unshaved)
TRD Filter (came w/ car, +10rwhp easily)

Planned Mods: (in order of planning)
Whiteline 20mm Front Sway Bar
Kosei K4R w/ Direzza ZIIs
Koni Yellows
Exhaust (way down the list)

Current Alignment:
Factory plus a bit of toe-in from crash bolts. Working on getting my string alignment system setup so I will update this later.

I'll add more as I think of it...

Thanks for looking!

Video from my first event with new tires. This was at a PCA event a couple weeks ago. I actually had a run that was 0.5 sec faster but I left my GoPro on like an idiot and it ran out for my last couple runs so this is the best I got.

Tire pressures were 36psi front and rear. Things I am working on: Staying ahead better, trusting the car more in high speed areas, and smoother steering inputs (so used to FWD).

Anyway, here it is:

We did 10 runs that day and I did 4 of mine in a Boxter S on RS3s. The Boxter was fun. Way faster than the FRS obviously, but it definitely wasn't as tossable and felt a lot heavier.

Whiteline 20mm front bar came in yesterday. I will be installing it on Friday and then testing it out at a PCA event on Sunday. PCA here runs morning and afternoon heats so I should be able to play with the stiffness setting a bit.

Installed the Whiteline 20mm sway bar and got the chance to test it out today at a PCA event. Left it on the softest setting and I am glad I did. My initial impressions from today is that it takes away almost all oversteer from the car. Car still rotates but you are just as likely to get understeer when pushing it as oversteer. In fact, really the only time I got the car to oversteer today was on the throttle. Less oversteer = faster time, even if it is less fun.

Anyways, here is my best run of the day, good enough for FTD in the afternoon amongst a handful of Boxters, 911s, and E30s.

Still working on smoother inputs, tire pressures, looking ahead more...

Fast time of day. Fortunately for the Porches, PCA doesn't bother with index times. We run morning session and afternoon session with the course backwards and a few changes for flow. I coned away the FTD for the morning session and got 2nd.

Ah, I learned something new. I've never autocrossed...only some light road course/drag strip stuff...

What is the cost of entry/registration for the average autocross event?

Had another event today in the FR-S with Wichita Region SCCA and ended up getting top index time of the day. Only 45 people in attendance but I'll still take it! Anyways, here is the video of my fastest run of the day:

[ame]http://youtu.be/WazpnRPeWq0[/ame]

Mods to date include:
Crash bolts
Whiteline front bar (20mm)
215/45-17 Hankook RS3s

Learned today that with the small amount of camber on the car, I need to be running the RS3s in the 40+ psi range.

Sorry Lonewolf, didn't mean to ignore you like a ****, just forgot to reply. Out here, SCCA autocrosses are $20 plus a $15 weekend membership if you aren't already an SCCA member. PCA events are 10$ for members and $20 for non-members. Out here I enjoy PCA events the most, they are capped at 25 people and we get 10 runs every event.

Hey! Awesome build so far. By any chance have you joined the KC-86 facebook group? We are all planning on going to the IFO event in Topeka the 29th and we're the largest group in the area.
